Format: Paperback
Making the most of the best kind of dedicated thorough amateur scholarship, Brian Read has transformed his interest beginning from metal detecting into a quiet gem of a book. There is no comparable publication on this subject for those who need reference material, and it is presented in a clear, easily accessible method, with very high quality archaeological illustrations.
Anyone interested in these humble fastenings, whether for comparison, research or re-enactment, should have a copy of this excellent book.

This book delivers on its promises. Great pictures and examples of buttons through the years with details not easily found elsewhere. It is a book I will go to over and over again. It should appeal to the metal caster as well as the amateur historian.
