Gothic ghost story featuring children possessed of malevolent spirits and mysterious deaths at a small town America sunflower farm. Roy Solomon (Dylan McDermott ) moves with his wife and three kids from Chicago to a remote North Dakota sunflower farm to make a fresh start on a new, healthier and safer life. In reality, they're running from the ghost of their daughter's drunk-driving accident, which hospitalized one of her brothers. John Burwell (John Corbett), a passing drifter, starts work as the family's man Friday and quickly becomes their trusted employee. As things begin to get dark, however and as ravens begin to circle the ranch, the Solomon kids begin to see queer spectral shapes around the house. One of them keeps what he sees to himself and the other is accused of attention seeking but there can be no mistaking what they are seeing as the signs become more threatening and ominous. Is there a presence at work in the house? What happened here that made the previous occupants leave so quickly? Have they even fully left.

The acting, in my opinion was very good, the plot could have been better, there were some aspects of the film i have seen many times before in other horror films, so nothing fresh was brought to the table. The ending was lame, with a lack lustre 'twist' which has also all been done before. All in all I wouldn't bother watching this film again. I found it wasn't scary- at all! not even any jumpy bits which i found to be disappointing since it's been labelled as a horror film, the ghosts moved too quick and were too obviously computer generated seen in the way they moved and looked, this took any potential scariness away for me. I didn't understand why the ghosts inside the house were attacking the family either, a bit of a mystery for me!
It's OK to watch, just don't expect to be scared!
Not a fan of weird, grudge-esque kids, so that was a bit of a let down but aside from that little bit that could have been done much better, I enjoyed it.
When her family moves out to the sticks, the leading lady played by Kristen Stewart(been a while since I watch eit, cant remember name) notices weird goings on in the house, as she struggles to adjust to the move out there. Her toddler brother, who hasnt spoken since she did something seemingly unforgivable, keeps seeing thigns that the adults cant, and also gets out of his cot mysteriously, as well as a number of other weird things that happen.
As the house starts to attack the people living there, we see Kristen trying to overcome the supernatural singlehandedly (her new boyfriend does come to the rescue a bit).
There's hidden secrets all over the place in this film, and thats what makes it interesting.
