5.0 out of 5 stars A well translated book 11 Mar. 2008
By randy - Published on Amazon.com

This is the best translation of Psalms, from the Kings English (of King James and William Shakespear's era) to modern English as how it is written and spoke today.

You read it , understand the message and it stays with you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible 13 Sept. 2007

This small and convenient edition fits in your purse, the console of a car, or just about anywhere. I cannot tell you what comfort these words brought to me during a very difficult period of my life in 2005. So often, I turn to this when I am anxious, afraid, depressed or just in need of encouragement. This addition makes the Psalms so real and personal and enables you to know that even in Bible times, people experienced the same hurts, fears and emotions that we do. I also love the fact that King David of Israel wrote most of these and how God used him in spite of all his imperfections. This gives me hope that He can use me too! :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read 12 Dec. 2009

For years I have avoided reading The Book of Psalms. I didn't like some of the negative messages and I thought they were kind of boring. Eugege Peterson has brought life to the Psalms and made them so much more palpable in the 21st century.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great personal read or great gift 18 May 2015

This book is a great book just to have for yourself to read the Psalms in a modern way. It also makes a great gift! My pastor recommended it to our congregation. Even if you have never read the Bible you would probably enjoy Eugene Peterson's interpretation of the Psalms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pocket companion! 8 Jan. 2013
By CB - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This small, portable Psalms in the Message version is great to have in car, your purse or coat pocket. I purchased multiple copies so I can hand them out to people who ask what I'm reading. Also gave them as stocking stuffers at Christmas. Reading the Psalms in this version adds new meaning and understanding to God's word through songs and laments.
