About the author

Hello and welcome to my Amazon page. I've been a lover of stories since I was tiny and used to beg my mum to take me to the library because I’d finished all my books and was desperate for new ones. Many of my passions have come and gone (my obsession with home décor shows in the 90s led to a lot of dodgy DIY choices and my attempt at making wine did not end well!) but my love for story and drama and romance will last a lifetime.
My favourite thing to do is to get myself comfy with a book in my lap and my dog, Pearl beside me and lose myself in a story. I love the feel of a paperback, but am equally happy reading on my Kindle or iPad. I now listen to a lot of audiobooks too, especially when I’m driving. I read a wide variety of novels, but there is a special place on my bookshelf for Marian Keyes, Maeve Binchy, Beth O’Leary and Emily Henry. I didn’t start writing until 2013, before that I ran a PR and Marketing agency for many years and loved hearing my clients’ stories of how they started their businesses. Those stories must have stayed in my subconscious because I find I often write about the sort of places I used to work for. MERRILY EVER AFTER is my fifteenth novel and I’m already putting the finishing touches to the next one. I hope that my books give readers a place to escape to, somewhere comforting, a space to explore their feelings and find joy. My stories are about people I’d want to be friends with, characters my readers will root for. They are often about ordinary women doing extraordinary things.
I grew up in Birmingham but moved to Nottingham for university and have been here ever since. I live with my family in a small village just outside the city, our house overlooks fields of barley in one direction and horses in the other, and our garden is full of fruit trees: damson; plum; pear and of course, Bramley apples!

Because Cathy Bramley is an auto read author for me, I never really look at her blurbs, so imagine my surprise and delight fairly early into the story when I realised it was a sequel to last year's Christmas release. It's no wonder I felt right at home with Merry, as I already knew her and Cole, and I am so happy to have been able to read the continuation of their story.
And then the second character this book focuses on is Emily, who is brand new, and she was a complete and utter delight to meet too. She's involved in some key storylines, and deals with everything thrown at her so so well.
I guessed fairly early as to how the stories might intersect and it didn't remotely detract from my enjoyment and seeing if I was right, as I was enjoying all of the characters so much, I just was engrossed in their stories.
It's a story full of love, romance, some adorable children, a couple of utterly fantastic men, while at the same time shines a light on dementia too with Ray. Some of Ray's lines had me laughing out loud while also feeling for Emily, as she clearly is struggling with him.
All set around a wedding being arranged within a few months, as well as Merry struggling with work-life balance, and also trying to work out just how she should be with Freya and Harley her about to be step children. There is a sprinkling of Christmas too - and a romantic gesture that made me swoon too.
It's just everything you could want in a Cathy Bramley novel. Another triumph from a totally fantastic author.
Thank you to Orion and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Was hooked from the first page, characters are likeable and I was rooting for Merry and Emily to both get a happy ending.
The story builds and flows at a nice pace with some lovely descriptive scenes that evoked a cosy and comforting feeling.
I really enjoyed it and found the ending satisfying.
Thoroughly enjoyed every page. Will certainly look to read more by Cathy Bramley.
