First pair went back to Amazon within 2 days, both boots leaked badly. Return is very easy; just box up and take to local shop, at no cost. Received replacement pair within a week. These too are not waterproof, I don't know yet whether to send them back or not, as they are comfortable. As others have found they can be a bit slippery on wet concrete flagstones or steps, but they are fine for dog walks on grass and dirt tracks. Just don't expect them to be waterproof.
I bought these to try out the Merrell brand as I have seen many good reviews in magazines and online, the price was reasonable on Amazon. There is no reference to Archeon boots or shoes on the Merrell website so I presume these boots are made exclusively for Amazon [quality may have suffered to meet a price].
Sizewise I take an 8 in shoes but for walking boots (Scarpa - 3 season and Brasher -winter) I take 9; the size 9 in this boot fits me just fine.

Summary: Boots are comfortable, but not waterproof. If they were not advertised as waterproof I would have given them 4 Stars and would probably still have bought them at the price. As a test of the Merrell brand, I'm not convinced that they can justify their normal high price for boots which are not waterproof when advertised as such. My Scarpa boots are years old and still waterproof, even in the West of Scotland

I have owned many pairs of Merrell shoes/boots as they are very comfortable. However, my experience with these boots has turned me off of this particular company. The stitching on the toe of this boot completely failed while on an extended trip. The gap left then allowed the toe of the boot to fill with sand and small beach gravel UNDER THE LINER (so, not something that could be shaken out). This ultimately meant the waterproofing on the liner failed. Contacting Merrell customer support was met with poor success (and it should be telling that their warranty on their socks is three times longer than on their boots!!). I ended up tossing these boots rather than hauling them back to the UK. A quick search online found that this sort of failure was common in Merrell shoes - as was the poor level of customer service.

Had these boots about 2 years, don't wear much,as the grips are a little slippery not great for hiking boots tbh. They were pretty cheap so shouldn't have expected too much but I've had merrell in the past which were great

I have worn Merrell boots for years and have found them to be the most supportive and comfortable footwear. I expect the size problem - ie having to go up a size. However, not only were these boots too small but too narrow (I compared them to a pair of Chameleon Wraps that are falling to bits and they are significantly narrower at the ankle and these were a women's fit! Also, they aren't really a proper mid boot as they don't even come up to the ankle bone on the inside of the foot.

This is extremely disappointing - I have already returned a female Siren Breeze (bought elsewhere) as insufficiently supportive, but they didn't pinch as much on the inside of the foot.

What on earth is Merrell up to in the sizing? My patience is being sorely tried as a loyal Merrell customer.

I don't know how many times I have walked into a shop to buy footwear, asked for my size and have the assistant come back and say "Sorry we don't have a size 11-12 (Even though I am a true size 11) would you like to try on a size 10 instead?"

No wonder we live in a country of bad feet.

Anyway, on to these Merrells, well they are fab, they fit perfectly as a shoe should and needed no wearing in period, like a properly fitting shoe should. They are really comfortable, a perfect shoe for me. So much so I bought two pairs.
They also provide excellent grip and good ankle support.

I just hope that Merrell doesn't discontinue the line, there is nothing worse than finding that those perfect shoes are no longer made. Full marks for quality, full marks for comfort.

First of all, I'm very heavy on footwear and they get serious use in rain, snow, cycling etc so any faults in footwear are apparent within a few weeks. In general water proof boots are not water proof. Most people use them for walking the dog for 20 mins or a quick walk on the beach and they obviously retain their waterproofing status. I've tried every brand of shoe and goretex and most of them are pretty bad once the boot has been in water for a couple of hours. My last pair of salomon gtx boot leaked within an hour and so did their replacement. These Merrell boots were on amazons lighting deal so I gave them a go. I've had them for about 2 months and they have been out in our record rainfall most days and they have not leaked which has amazed me. I don't expect miracles with footwear but these really are good. They are a good wider fitting too in relation to most other brands which seem to have got smaller and narrower over the years. These are the cheapest boots I've bought for years and they are by far the best in practically every way. Fantastic.

Bought these on the Black Friday deals, though they seem to be about the same price and I'm currently wearing them.

They feel comfortable and look nice. As expected they are well made with no problems visible anywhere on them. I think they would make good walking shoes.

However, a quick walk outside in the wet and I nearly slipped a couple of times on the wet, leafy pavements. I am assuming this is because they are so new and they need breaking in a bit.

Anyway, they are really comfortable, really well built and lack of initial grip aside, I like them a lot.

Update: These shoes also build up quite a lot of static when wearing them, (or at least they do for me), so I've been getting zapped whenever I get out of the car and touch anything metal. Not too terrible, but something I'm certainly noting.
