Try putting an old apple on one of the fatball holders for the blackbirds and nyjer seeds in the water holder to attract the goldfinches. This is such an incredible present for anybody. I got it for christmas and you can put it anywhere. I put it on my bedroom window but because it is on the first floor I don't get as many customers as I do in my garden which is lower down, however I have one blue tit and one great tit and one robin that visit regularly. It is so nice to wake up to a dulled tapping at the window and open your curtain to the birds, it's given me a reason to have breakfast in bed! The suckers are really hardy and mine hasn't come off yet, however if it does fall down there is a safety line to stop it from crashing to the ground. This has been a devastating winter for the bird population and it really is good to do whatever you can for them, and it's also great if you can get a little enjoyment out of it.

This is an excellent little window feeder. I deliberately went for a small feeder as I didn't want to encourage any of the pigeons and doves which frequent the area my house is in (mostly small commercial buildings and car parks).

I knew it might take a long wait before any of the smaller birds (which I can hear twittering in the trees and shrubs 50-100 feet away) noticed the feeder, and came to investigate. In the hope of speeding that up, after a week of seeing no signs of any birds noticing the feeder, I bought an artificial sprig of berries and (having ensured the berries were firmly attached and not easy to remove) wedged it between the feeder and the window glass - like a bird "Cafe open" sign.

Within 24 hours, I had my first (and so far only) visitor. I was a bit taken aback though - it was a magpie! I would have thought it would be too big for the feeder, but they're resourceful and intelligent, and this bird has managed it. He/she now visits several times each morning and evening, and yesterday, even brought a friend along. The remarkable thing is, the suckers show no signs of losing their grip on the window - the feeder is still very firmly attached, which is impressive, given the size of the visitor! (I've attached a photo - abysmal quality I know, but it was taken in a hurry from the far side of the room.)

No feeder can magic up birds where there aren't any, or speed up the process of attracting their attention if they don't usually come very close, but if and when one or more feathered friends do decide to visit, this feeder fits the bill admirably!

After the first weeks of testing, I am very happy with the purchase. I got 2 of these bird feeders and my windows are now frequently visited by blue tits, great tits (see pictures), coal tits and robins. Dunnocks and sparrows pass by sometimes but they prefer to stay on the window sill and pick the crumbs falling from the feeders. I live on the second floor, next to an area with some trees where the birds use to hang out. Until now, no pidgeons or magpies tried to get on the feeders, despite there's several in the area. I chose the 2 fat-balls model, I think the 3 fat-balls one may offer bigger birds a better chance of landing. A big rook once came very close to the window to check out the feeders, but it seemed like he could not find a way to land on them - luckily!

Here's a list of PROS and CONS for the product.

PROS:

- The suckers have an excellent grip, better than you would expect from items of this size. I left the feeders outside and despite the Scottish rain and wind they never gave me the feeling I'd better bring them in. I have seen up to 2 small birds on a single feeder (they tend to "take turns" when eating), sometimes the blue tits stay on the feeder pecking down strong on it to open their sunflower seeds, but the feeder has always stood stable.

- There's a little compartment in front of the feeder for fresh water, which seems to be very appreciated and surely will help the birds in winter (we'll have to remember to bring the feeders in at night so that it does not freeze!). Nice touch for the bird's well-being.

- For safety, the feeders come with a lace you can tie to the window handles. In my case I preferred to put two nails on the side of the window, outside, so that the window can stay 100% closed.

I was very pleased with this birdfeeder. It is sturdy material and when attached to the window via the suction cups it stays where you put it. The bottom half just clips onto the rear section and so you can unhook it to remove for cleaning without having to take the whole thing off the window. The attachments for fat balls are a good idea. It is less messy than the tubular hanging feeders as the birds do not chuck seed all over the place. I would think this would also be handy if you lived in a flat without access to a garden. Although there may be a health and safety issue if you have to hang out of a window to get at it!!

Easy to put together and I like the piece of string which acts as a tether in case it falls off the window when you're cleaning it. Value for money I'd say.

Sticks very well to the window in my opinion. Three attachments for fatballs, plus a nice large base for seed etc and a separate (smaller) compartment at the front. Just hope the birds take to it but they're displaying a bit of neophobia just now.
