It's brilliant for kids as you know that they are getting all the great taste and protein without hidden salt/sugar to worry about, a point that also makes it fantastic for dolloping into smoothies or sauces. Let's face it though, most of the time I just eat this by the spoonful straight from the tub... no judgement.
Recently when we have eaten 'normal' peanut butter again it now just tastes bizarrely sweet and pudding-like for something that is largely used as a savoury spread. A bit like having sugar in tea, it's something that you think is necessary until you [quickly] get used to not having it.
This massive tub is actually really great value per kg in comparison to the usual branded alternatives, and it goes a long way. The only potential issue with the more natural peanut butter like this is the oil separation, which (after trying many alternative brands) admittedly can be a bit annoying as you try to stuff a spoon down the thin neck of a jar and attempt to somehow tumble the solidified peanut goo at the bottom around and into the oil at the top... which invariably slops out. However this giant tub of Meridian removes all that stress - I've found that there is less separation than with other brands (or at least the tub makes it appear that way) and the wide opening of the tub rather than a jar means all you need to do is give it a quick swirl around with a butter knife. No mess at all, and takes a few seconds. Perfect!
It arrives separated in the tub (a layer of oil on top of the peanut butter) and requires a bit of time and effort to stir together but once this has been done you'll see the effort was worth it. The flavour is excellent and the lack of a sugary or salty taste found in most other peanut butters is refreshing.
Whilst the consistency is somewhat more runny that other brands, it is simple to get used to and often means you need to use less making the tub go further. It also means that if intending to mix it in to recipe's you will find the process particularly easy.
The lack of additives often found in other brands means that you also know exactly what you are getting; a more ethically sourced peanut butter that is free of many of the bad things found elsewhere.
The danger you'll have is that one you start eating this there is no other brand that will suffice. You may also find yourself simply spooning this into your mouth as its so addictively tasty.
For years I have been buying this and it is just unbeatable. It is so nice that you can gift it to friends and family and they'd be grateful for introducing it to them.
Be wary however that you would need to mix it well and that can be super hard! It is a large tub so its expected. You are buying something natural and tens to settle.
Cheapest you will find anywhere considering a 300 g jar is 3 quid in Tescos!!!!
Make sure you buy enough to last you the winter! :P :P

Be aware though that it needs a very big stir and separates a lot!
