I was already aware of the concerns around traditional hormone replacement therapy, but this book helped me understand on a much deeper level. It's written in plain english, so anyone can understand what each hormone does, how an imbalance affects the body and thus contributes to menopause as well as long term symptoms.
The book is very well written, very informative, and I am for sure going to book an appointment for consultation with a Bio-identical hormone replacement doctor/clinic. I have not yet reached menopause, but reading this book prompted to me be pro-active and get ready.
There are a few parts in the book that discuss the importance of eating healthy and exercising, but the majority of the book focuses on using restorative medicine to balance hormones in the body. The author spends a lot of time talking about her doctor, Dr. Dzugan, and how he has helped her to a more healthy and vibrant life. Unfortunately, where I live there are not a lot of restorative medicine practicioners so the ideas talked about in the book are not going to be of any use to me.
I am sure there are much better books out there for surviving menopause without the use of drugs. This one I just didn't get a lot out of.
