The setting of the story is in world war 2. An American fighter pilot falls in love with an American nurse while working in England. However she has had a trauma in her life which leaves her hurting and vulnerable.
I had not realised when I chose this book that the author was a Christian writer, but guessed before I had finished the first chapter. Now I am a practising Christian but I found the book so top heavy with bible quotes and prayers that I had to persevere to finish.
In my opinion, less is more. I found it all too patronising and preachy. While I do believe in prayer it all sounded pompous to me. The heroine says " You can't look after me only God can" and what was wrong with Jack being proud of how well he flew, without being told he had the sin of pride? Who were they to judge? In fact it was all rather judgemental. There are good ways to feel proud too! I found the heroine very irritating. Religion is not the same as spirituality and many people will be turned off by this. Even some of the air force crew also praised the Lord!
Sorry to go on so much but it was all too too much. It spoilt a good story.

As with all Sarah's book, she has imbibed an impressive amount of research that vividly brings to life what it was like to fly B17 missions over Europe. However, love story that it is, it also deals intensively, yet never pruriently with a very difficult issue that many women have had to confront. Very moving and very credible.

Absolutely loved this book, about the second brother, thus book 2 in the series. I bought this and book 3 before I had even finished book 1, and read them straight after each other. The descriptions of the aircrew and details had me asking my hubby so many questions about the aircraft that he looked up pictures of them and explained where each person sat and what they did - I now know so much more, Thanks. I highly recommend this series to anyone and everyone.

This is the second book in the trilogy about the lovely Novak brothers and I have loved them both! I couldn't put my kindle down! The storyline is engrossing with excellent narrative on the flying sequences. I've bought the third novel for my kindle but won't start it just yet because I have spent so much time reading the first two, I've fallen behind in my work! That's how good they are!

I enjoyed book 1 in this series and I enjoyed this book as well. This book relates to 1 of 3 brothers and I found it to be an interesting read. Just when you think everything is alright the story goes all over the place and makes it more interesting and you don't want to put the book down.

This is book two in the Wings of Glory series about the Novak brothers who serve as bomber pilots in WWII. Most of this story takes place in England.

In this second book we meet Major Jack Novak, pilot on a B-17 bomber plane.
When Jack gets injured and lands in the hospital, he meets Army Nurse Lieutenant Ruth Doherty. Jack is determined to win Ruth's heart. But Ruth is not interested in men. Eventually they become friends, but Ruth cannot give more of herself to Jack, because of something awful that happened to her 8 years ago.

Jack also has fears from his past. Both Jack and Ruth let their fears control their actions and it drives them apart.
Can they let go of their fears and give it all in God's hands? Or will their own need to be in control keep them separated?

Sarah writes so beautifully that I imagined myself in the B-17 together with Jack and his crew. I also went trough the training for Flying Nurse with Ruth. That was tough, I think I never would have made it!

Although the subjects in this book were pretty tough, there was much to learn from Jack and Ruth about love, faith, and forgiveness.
