Product Description

Memoirs Of A Madman serves as a career spanning audio release featuring 17 of Ozzy Osbourne's greatest hit singles remastered and compiled in one place for the first time in his career. This set offers fans of the multi-platinum recording artist, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and three-time Grammy winning singer and songwriter the ultimate collection from Ozzy's distinguished solo career.

Ozzy's ongoing solo career spans four decades--as both a successful solo artist and as the lead singer of Black Sabbath--and his music is as relevant today as ever; it still resonates daily on TV, in movies, on radio and at stadium sports events.

For all the things Ozzy Osbourne has been known for, Memoirs Of A Madman puts the focus squarely on the thing he does best: crafting some of the best, most passionate rock and roll of all time.

Here we have yet another Ozzy Osbourne greatest hits CD, and we could all complain and say ''why isn't such a track on here'?'', I know I could. However, long term fans are never the target audience for such albums. For anyone who is just discovering Ozzy's music, and don't already have one of his albums, this is a great introduction to his work. Those who do have been treated well in the past, with the excellent boxset Prince Of Darkness being to best example.

In this career spanning set, you get a generous helping of the good old stuff like 'Crazy Train', 'Mama, I'm Coming Home' and 'Mr. Crowley', as well as more recent stuff from his albums 'Down to Earth', 'Black Rain' and 'Scream'. 'Changes' is the version that Ozzy recorded with his daughter Kelly in 2003. As a bonus, there is a previously unreleased 2010 recording of 'Paranoid' at the end.

Presented in chronological order, here you can enjoy 30 years of music from one of the most distinctive voices, and biggest names in rock. One of my minor complaints that the album is presented in a flimsy cardboard sleeve, but it's the music that matters, and the sound quality on all these tracks is very good. Personally, I think it's great that Ozzy is back in the charts, on the shelves, and his music is easily available again. However, as good as 'Memoirs of a Madman' is, I'd personally opt for the superb two disc set The Essential Ozzy Osbourne, where you'll find most of these songs, and a lot more.

Disc 1 = the promo videos
" NO shot in the dark promo " I can't understand why.?
The picture is 480P NTSC.
Some videos are in 16:9 full screen. Some are 16:9 with annoying black bars on each side.
" 2 hrs & 12 minutes "
Dvd 2 = live.! Concert promos & interviews.
" 2 hrs & 22 minutes "

Packaging is poor ~ very thin card which the dvds are shoved in to so discs will be scuffed.!
Nice booklet included.
GREAT PRICE.!
Many thanks to DODAX UK.!

In answer to all the questions around the omission of Shot In The Dark, I believe it has something to do with a dispute between Sharon and Phil Soussan. Phil wrote it and there are issues around royalties and writing credits. Information on an American fan site detail this and also the fact that the song has been removed from other greatest hits reissues.

great package and good value. My only complaint with content is i would have liked interviews with the band members and some backstage, there are some interview clips with ozzy. It does give all the videos (except shot in the dark which i guess did have a video) and a lot of live performances from the start of ozzy's solo career through to scream. Not that impressed with the sound, probably could have been better if on blu-ray. Overall a good buy for any ozzy fan.
