Memes of Loss and Devotion had he hooked within the first story through a vividly-rich writing style and almost flawless use of literary elements. I found each story to be just as good as the last and I especially admire the themes in some of the stories that share strong parallels to the world and human life today. The author knows how to find that perfect medium of making the writing not look to primitive and not being too over the top. It's evident to me that a lot of passion and effort, as opposed to just time, has gone into crafting each story into the best shape that they can possibly be - it's for this reason that I will be taking note of Darren White and keeping an eye out for his future releases.

While the first story was not my favourite, as this new author finds his voice the stories get more and more interesting. Some rely on the twist and wordplay while others are the classic form of a unique circumstance played to the last moment. You find you want to read all of it just to see what tale you are going to be told next.

The book does not overstay its welcome and if one story is not to your taste you can still be assured it will at least never be less than interesting and the story to follow will be completely different. This is not a book ties to one style or form.

An easy book to recommend. A mix of stories that will keep you entertained throughout.

I enjoyed this collection of short stories hugely and looked forward to sitting down to finish the current one or get stuck into a new one. I'm a fan of sci-fi and I thought the stories had just the right balance of hard sci-fi details, intriguing plot lines and believable characterisation. These aren't run of the mill stories and pose genuinely interesting and thoughtful questions about our present and future and a well written and engaging fashion.

I'm sad I've finished it now but I might reread my favourites in the not too distant future. Looks like this is the author's first book but I hope it won't be his last.

All too often I'm left disappointed by authors in this genre regurgitating the same repetitive and badly written offerings, presumably working on the basis of quantity as opposed to quality. It is immediately clear that that is not the case here. The writer has clearly put an immense amount of effort into these shorts and it shows. Do not mistake this for a bunch of badly written offerings bunched together. Each and every story is expertly written, thought provoking and compelling in its own way. If you're a fan of the genre look out for this author, I predict he will be around for some time.
