Mel Woodend has had many different jobs over the years but only one true passion - books! She has recently married and lives with her husband and their cat in the West Midlands of England but travels to the coast as often as possible; to partake in her other passion - body boarding.
Mel is a keen reader, writer, swimmer and body boarder. She loves her family, her cat, gardening and the sea. All are inspirations for her writing - which is often based on the natural world.
Mel has published three poetry anthologies to date: Her first collection, "A Poet's Poems" in May 2015; "Journeys and Memories" published December 2015 - a longer collection of poetry written by Mel and illustrated by her Dad, Michael John Wardle, and "Poems Of Spring" published in May 2016.
As an avid writer, Mel keeps a monthly blog "My Diary Of A Cat Owner" and is currently working on her next poetry collection, as well as a YA fiction novel.
After graduating in 2012 with a BA Honours degree in English Language and Literature, Mel is now enjoying studying for her Masters degree in Creative Writing. She has recently won the "People's Choice" award at a local Arts festival where she performed her poetry - and has additionally performed a poetry reading and interview on local radio. Mel hopes to publish many more books.
