Meenee 13.3 inch 3rd generation laptop product descriptionWhen deciding on which laptop you wish to purchase, many factors come into play like cost of the computer and performance. You will find plenty of great computers on the market, but take a look at the Meenee 13.3 inch laptop and see that this computer just might suit your needs.
SpecificationsThe Meenee 13.3 inch laptop contains a Dual Core Intel Atom N570 processor with a speed of 1.66 GHz. It contains 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, and a SATA 320GB HDD with a hard drive interface that is Serial ATA. The computer contains an Intel GMA 3150 graphics card with a shared VRAM graphics RAM type.
Operating systemThe Meenee comes loaded with the Linux Ubuntu operating system. Ubuntu offers a different performance experience than the Windows operating platform and actually offers a faster and less resource taxing machine. A definite advantage of the Ubuntu operating system is it is far less likely to get viruses than its counterpart Windows.
Software HeavyYou will find your computer capable of running software like GIMP, a Photoshop like program for graphics and photo editing; you can run your Windows programs with WINE Program Loader, a movie player and radio and a full office suite for any of your publishing needs.
Crystal clear display and HDMI portThere is nothing better than surfing the Internet with a crystal clear display screen and the Meenee offers this in spades. The images, video and text displays without the grainy, color washout or blurring sometimes found on laptops. If you like to connect your computer to your HDTV, then you are in luck. The Meenee has an HDMI port (High Definition Multimedia Interface) which allows you to simply use one cable to connect both devices, so you can enjoy HD digital video.
Multiple Card ReaderSince the advent of digital cameras, PC makers have made it much easier to upload your pictures to your computer for storage, editing and printing purposes. The Meenee Series 7 computers come with the ability to read and write to most types of memory cards. It is a simple matter of sliding your card into the built-in slot and following the onscreen prompts.
Webcam and BluetoothThe Meenee offers a webcam so you can use the full benefit of social media websites and applications and let your friends and family see you while you chat. Also, instead of having endless wires and cables around, the Bluetooth technology allows you to operate wireless keyboards or wireless mouse without the need for added electronics.
AccessoriesThe Meenee has many upgrades and accessories available to you online like spare parts for potential repairs and upgrades. You will find external DVD re-writers, wireless input devices and protection sleeves are just a sample of what Meenee offers to their customers.
HD audio supportNot only does Meenee 7 series offer intense movie images, it also completes your experience with High Definition sound. Thanks to built-in audio chip, Meenee laptops generate an advanced audio environment which will take your breath away.
No optical driveMeenee 7 series do not have internal optical drive for the same reason they do not have a 3.5 inch floppy drive, you don't need it anymore. The optical drive is, over time, being used less and less by fewer and fewer users. We decided to pull it from the core product and make it a well supported accessory instead. This gave us all that internal space going to the battery.

It is perfectly usable strait out of the box, but if you really want it to rock, upgrade it from the Netbook version of Ubuntu to the full blown desktop version. It can be downloaded free from ubuntu.com and takes absolutely no IT knowledge whatsoever to install. All you need is access to a USB stick and the ability to follow a few very basic instructions. Why the full version of Ubuntu was not installed by default is beyond me! The machine is perfectly capable of taking it and the upgrade turns it from a good netbook to a full blown laptop that will do it all and then some. Doing this upgrade is far better than installing something like Windows 7, as that will just make the poor machine run like a dog and you'll end up loosing far more than you gain. Unless you need to run a dedicated program that is not available for Linux there is absolutely no point whatsoever in taking such a backwards step.
Ubuntu desktop, Is a truly awesome operating system, especially if you have been using Windows in the past, it is all so snappy and all those horrible popups and patronising messages just vanish. No need for slow and expensive internet security software either!Read more ›
The design of the laptop is stunning - on the front of laptop (the lid) you have three lights that light up when you are powered on (and they turn off when you close the lid) . Cleverly, the lid has a glossy finish but the bezel, monitor and interior have a matte finish which stops fingerprints, glare and generally feels much nicer. The keyboard is an absolute joy to use with its perfectly sized, raised keys that give that macbook impression. Unfortunatley, the touch pad has to be the worst I have used in a long time, that said its not terrible, its just that it can be very difficult to pinpoint things. If you are fussy about touchpads then think carefully before buying this. However it should be noted that you can always use a USB or bluetooth mouse.
Onto specs now - the laptops performance is very good on both OS's I have tried (Ubuntu and win Xp) . There isn't much to say about it, its just a bit better than what you would expect from a laptop/netbook this price I would say. The display is a very good resolution of 1280x800, and it is bright, colourful, and generally fantastic to view. this You have built in Wifi which you would expect, and also built in bluetooth which is probably quite a bonus. There are two USB ports and also a mini HDMI port which is quite slick.
Being a high school student, I bought this laptop hoping for something that would do what it said on the tin, and not have to worry about carrying something super expensive about.
What can I say... it does all this and more. Apart from the slightly flawed touchpad I can't fault this laptop for the money, so if it's sounding good for you, go ahead and get it now!

Terrible laptop; too many problems to mention.
Buy a second hand laptop from a reputable brand for the same price and it'll beat this hands down.
