Matthew J Tow has become famous in Australia for his pioneering spirit of latter-period Beatles and Bowie, the psychedelia of such artists as Soft Machine and the Zombies and the classic heartfelt pop of The Waterboys and Elliott Smith. In early 2003 Anton Newcombe released the Brian Jonestown Massacre album " And This Is Our Music" and Tow contributed two of his own songs to the album. He also toured as a guest rhythm guitarist for the Brian Jonestown Massacre. A palpable buzz began to surround The Lovetones, and they contributed a song to the James Joyce Chamber Music project alongside such acts as Mercury Rev, Mike Watt, Sonic Youth and REMs Peter Buck. "Meditation" reveals a further development in Tows song-writing craft combining introspective lyrics with pop smarts and a penchant for dizzying space-rock. Fourteen tracks of magically lush, otherworldly delights.
Top Customer Reviews
All of the Lovetones albums are just beautiful music that you listen to over and over again. If you are looking for modern Pscydelica music seminiscent of the Beatles but without copying them, then "Drop City" and the "Lovetones" is highly recommended.
