We’ve developed a BBC Media Player app to improve video playback on phone and tablet devices. You’ll need to install this separately from the Amazon Appstore. To make installation of the BBC Media Player as easy as possible, BBC iPlayer will prompt you to install it when you first play a programme.

To give you with the best experience, certain details like your Search History and Added programmes may be stored on your device or securely on BBC servers.

To analyse and improve the app, it also uses technologies similar to performance cookies used by the BBC. You can alter your settings for this on your device. For more information about this and privacy, cookies and iPlayer more generally, visit the BBC iPlayer privacy FAQ page at http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/tv/app_privacy, or the BBC’s Privacy & Cookies site at http://www.bbc.co.uk/privacy/

The app was developed by Media AT (Media Applications Technologies Limited) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).

.Excellent quality with iplayer and media player. You can save progs in the iplayer favourites to watch within iplayer timescales but wi-fi needed to do this -not 'offline'. Still useful if you have missed a show.

With a huge amount of free and high quality content, why would you not download this? As always the app works well allowing you to view your favourite BBC shows wherever you have a wi-fi connection.

I have been using this app for the past year with no problems. I regularly use this app to download and watch later various BBC programmes and it was joy to use. I say was as suddenly because I have a Kindle Fire HD (previous generation) the BBC has decided to withdraw the download facility. It's no longer an option to me and no doubt countless other previous generation users. There is a message in the app that clearly states that although the download facility is no longer an option to me, I can stream via with-fi or wait for Amazon to update my kindle's system before I can use all facilities once more. This is in my view an outrageous situation caused by both the BBC and Amazon where both organisations blame the other for the consumer of older models of the Kindle Fire HD losing out. Given there is little that can be done for me seeing as the software is suddenly a gateway to using the BBC app, my question to Amazon is, do you as a large conglomerate have a responsibility towards the users of your older Kindle Fire HD tablets to ensure all apps work for all users and not just your users of your latest model of kindle fire? I bought this Kindle Fire last year on recommendation that Amazon looks after all its Kindle customers and was assured at the time that I would not be forced to consider constantly upgrading the Kindle's hardware. Perhaps this situation is the beginning of things to come.

HUGE fan of I-player on all devices. THis version works perfectly, 'nuff said. Clean, clear and the Kindle Fire's speakers are so good you don't need to watch with head phones in
