The DD8L Zambezi (A Which? Best Buy 2016) offers more functionality, more control and more options than any other domestic dehumidifier on the market today. Zambezi has 6 World Firsts; A digital display provides simplified access to a wealth of features required by customers using the Zambezi, displaying the room relative humidity and temperature. The Sterilising Ioniser; Neutralises mould, dust, dust mites, viruses, bacteria and odours. Other dehumidifiers have ionisers but none has an ioniser like Zambezi! Clinically proven to destroy viruses, bacteria, mould, odours and germs over a 10m range. The Meaco Energy Saving Laundry+: continuously monitors the amount of moisture in the air around your clothes and will vary its electricity usage between 650, 350 and 40 watts to ensure that your clothes are dried as cheaply as possible. The Meaco Turn Me On: if switched off, but still plugged in, the Zambezi wants to protect your home will ask you to turn him on in order to bring the humidity back down to a more comfortable and mould free level. The Meaco 20+ Control: The Zambezi looks after your belongings by increasing its fan speed if the relative humidity increases 20%rh above your set point to protect your treasures. The Meaco Timer+: The feature that customers really wanted. Not just an off timer, but an On Timer, Daily Run Timer and an off Timer, giving you complete control over when Zambezi turns on or off. The Charity Tie Up: We make a £2 donation every time a Zambezi is sold to help conserve elephants in the wild. By purchasing this dehumidifier you are helping the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and their Elephant Orphanage in Zambia. So whether you need from a Dehumidifier, Zambezi is quite simply the most advanced dehumidifier that you could currently buy.

I now have a builder working at the property to try to resolve the cause of the water coming into the property. For the first few days I had the machine in the front of the house and had to empty it twice a day (so only negative comment would be that I wished the water container was a bit larger), but I've now positioned it next to the sink, and have the rubber tubing going into the sink so I can have it running continually without anyone having to empty it. One thing I would say is that to begin with I kept the tubing at full length and coiled it around in the sink, but I kept the plug in so I could see how much water was coming out, and not much did. So I cut the tubing to a shorter length so it didn't touch the base of the sink and the water seems to flow out much better.
So although an expensive purchase - it's worked really well so far with visible results. I do have a couple of other brands of dehumidifier in my own house, but this one works much better. It does seem to produce some heat, and whichever room it's in gets a little warmer, but in a cold empty house that's a good thing.
It dries the room well. It is very useful for drying clothes. Which magazine reports that it is a very efficient dehumidifier because it doesn't use much electricity to get the water out of the air.
It is very flexible with many different settings. You can set the humidity level that you want for the room, and I have checked that it does in fact switch off when it gets to that humidity level.
I have found that the lowest power setting is perfectly fine for drying clothes.
I keep this in my basement with the accompanying pipe trailing to the sink. It does draw a few watts but is making the lower ground level very habitable.
