4.0 out of 5 stars A View of Hollywood's Golden Age from the Inside 17 April 2013

Armand Deutsch became a producer at MGM after a successful career on Wall Street. He knew everyone and writes fondly about a variety of big names--Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, Joe Lewis, the Barrymores, Bennett Cerf, Nancy Reagan, Jimmy Stewart and Robert Taylor. Each gets his own chapter except for Sinatra, who gets two. Deutsch is a great name-dropper and takes the reader through the parties and night life of movie stars and others. He is also a good natured observer who never got over his interest in the movie industry. He's never mean spirited and doesn't pass on rumors or gossip. What Deutsch does is to take you into the inner world of the Hollywood elite. This is a most enjoyable read.

Ardie Deutsch was a friend and a good one. I enjoyed his book as it brought back happy memories of Harriet & Ardie as well as being insightful with respect to the subjects of his mini-bios.
