This is one of the best reds I've tasted for under £5. Full bodied and slightly sweet for a red, but very tasty on the tongue with a hint of blackberry. You won't go far wrong with this wine.

~ McGuigan
~ Australia
~ 'Black Label'
~ Shiraz
~ 12.5% Vol
~ 750 ml

Tried at a Christmas function with 'Lamb Tagine' as the feature dish (in more ways than one), this Shiraz is particularly well balanced ~ smooth with more than a sweet hint so went down well with those more reluctant to try a 'red'.
Best served at room temperature, to me, red & black berries and plum present with creamy vanilla and just a touch of spiciness on the fade, without being bitter.
Went equally well with the tasty vegetarian casserole, and a creamy cheese board to wind up.

Although it seems very sweet for a Red, it has loads of fruity flavour and is absolutely delicious. The nearest thing to another fanatastic Aussie wine, the Black Stumpf. It isn't as potent at 12.5% compared to the 15% of Black Stumpf, but at half the price, you can't beat it. I'm off to buy a case tomorrow at Morrisons!

I "discovered" this smooth red whilst holidaying in Australia and it appears to be the most popular red over there. Now it is my favourite

I love this wine because, unlike so many other reds, it has no bitter taste and hangs on the palate well after sampling even a whole glass. I intend to buy more very soon.
