Perfect for Washing Machine & Tumble Dryer!

We have a built in cupboard for our washing machine & tumble dryer. Machine on bottom, dryer above on shelf.

The instructions for the condenser dryer say it can be plumbed into the waste. Doing away with having to empty to reservoir draw.

This meant we needed another waste trap next to the washing machine one. So I ordered this twin trap.

Fitted in minutes straight on top of the 40mm pipe coming up from the U-bend behind the washing machine.

The washing machine waste pushed on tight with no leakes. The dryer waste pipe could be fed/pushed straight inside the second trap. But I drilled a 10mm hole through the waste blank that came with the kit. Giving a tighter fit to the dryer waste tube so it couldn't slide out.

No leaks from any of the joints, but mine are wrapped in PTFE tape, as I always do. So I can't comment on it without tape.

As for the breather hole in the top to help prevent vacuum blockages. Should I get any smells from this I'll seal it with silicone.

If you need the traps side ways, I'd say try something else designed for that or be ready to seal the breather hole with silicone.

Used this to connect both my washing machine and condensing tumble dryer to the same stand pipe.

Some notes:
- You must remove the blue blanking caps when you install this otherwise you will block the outlet. They are only to be kept there if you don't want to use both connectors i.e. if you only have one appliance to connect.
- There is an air gap at the middle of the joint (you can just about see it in the photos where there is a notch). Apparently this is due to regulations. This means you must have that point upwards other waste water will leak out. This makes this connector unsuitable for most kind of under sink waste outlets but OK for stand pipes

Perfect for combining washing machine and dishwasher into 40mm standpipe

My house has a pantry that the washing machine was plumbed into. It had a nominal 40mm diameter standpipe (actually about 42mm outside diameter, 35mm inside diameter or thereabouts). I wanted to add a table-top dishwasher in the pantry but both waste pipes would not fit into the standpipe at a time. Access was also quite difficult as the pantry has a width of around 700mm. I could only get one of my arms in to reach the standpipe without moving the washing machine out, and that would have been too much trouble to do.

This adaptor is the solution that allows the waste for the dishwasher and the waste for the washing machine to use the standpipe at the same time. I installed it and it worked first time without any leaks. I also did not use any jubilee clips or PTFE tape as some people have done.

What I did find was that I was not able to get one of the waste pipes fitted far enough along the tube to which it attaches with the adaptor in place. The solution was easy, because I was able to unscrew the "arm" from one side of the adaptor, pull the waste pipe and the arm out so that I could get to it with both hands, and then I was able to use sufficient force to push the waste pipe far enough along the arm so that it wouldn't come off. It was then easy to refit the arm to the adaptor and screw it back in place.

One of the arms is pointing downwards and the other upwards in my setup. I have not blocked the hole at the top of the adaptor and I believe to do so could cause vacuum problems.

this is not suitable for use with a standard u-bend type trap, there is an air-vent hole, and it has to sit upright or it leaks, needs a vertical stand pipe to attach too, and space, its quite tall. description does not say this...

We have a single waste pipe set up in our kitchen for our washing machine. We had just installed a dishwahser and obviously did not want to create another waste pipe going out (which is the norm). Saw this and decided to go for it. We are so glad we did! We now have both the washing machine and dIshwasher attached to this connector, both machines work brilliantly, using the same waste disposal.

Very easy installation, no tools or clippers needed at all, we hand tightened them and presto! I would highly recommend this if you need two waste systems going through a single outlet.

Just what I needed

I have one waste water stand pipe in my utility room, into which the washing machine was plumbed. I replaced my vented tumble dryer with a heat pump dryer. It came with a hose for connecting to a waste pipe so you don't have to keep emptying the water tank. This little piece of kit was exactly what I needed to plumb the two machines into one waste pipe. It didn't come with any fitting instructions so I guess they assume anyone buying one of these will already know what to do with it. Luckily, I had a plumber friend supervising me so it wasn't a problem but you can probably Google how to fit it. It's been a couple of months since I fitted it and I've had no leaks. I also don't need to empty the tumble dryer water tank anymore. I've seen these twin connectors in B&Q, don't know what the quality is like but I was more than happy with the price I paid for this McAlpine kit (less than a tenner).

Easy to plumb in waste from washing machine and dishwasher

Used to plumb in the waste from a washing mashine and a dishwasher that both fed into a single pipe through the wall.

Did the job well, just one thing to remember - it comes with blanking plugs in the two outlets - yes, I put them into the main unit but realised, fortunately, that they shouldn't be there if you are using both outlets before I put the unit onto the end of the main outlet pipe.

So far I'm pleased to say there's been no wet floors :)

I recently bought a dishwasher and wanted to install it close to my washing machine, only to find that I had a trap which would accommodate only one appliance. I have searched in all the obvious shops (Wiks, ScrewFix, B&Q) and found nothing which could help me. This adaptor did the job perfectly. It is made of good hard plastic and fits a 40 mm diameter wide tube. You can twist the 2 nozzles as you please and they are made to fit the exhaust tubes of any kitchen appliance. Really neat! Only thing is that it has to be mounted to a tube with the opening facing upwards, otherwise it will leak from the air escape hold placed in the middle.
