Would have been satisfied if inputs for the SNES Classic controller wasn't a mess.

While it does work fine with the wii classic controller pro and the NES classic controller (kind of), the SNES classic controller reads inputs like a keyboard with a cat rolling on it. And sadly, playing games with the SNES controller is the main reason why I wanted to purchase this device. It was clearly made before the SNES classic, but the fact that there are no software updates for this thing ticks me off and makes me feel a bit ripped off. The image is me just leaving the controller alone.

It is recognised as two controllers, both called "Dual Box WII".
Any controllers plugged into it have to be unplugged then plugged back in every time you restart the computer.
The controls are mapped as follows:
A = 2
B = 3
X = 1
Y = 4
L = 7 (digital only)
R = 8 (digital only)
zL =5
zR = 6
D-pad up pov hat up and 13 (at the same time)
D-pad down pov hat down and 15 (at the same time)
D-pad left pov hat left and 16 (at the same time)
D-pad right pov hat right and 14 (at the same time)
left stick = X and Y axes
right stick = Z Axis and Z rotation (rudder, just like a 360 pad)

Works with Windows 10. Plug and play, no drivers or software necessary. It's also compatible with the SNES Classic Mini controller, making this device an essential for PC based emulation.
Be aware that the controller ports are backwards - if the product is sat upright with the text on top, you'll want to plug your controller into the right-most port for player 1. I initially thought the device wasn't working because of this.

I bought this on the faith that since the wireless version (which had served me very well up to the point where the USB dongle acquired a fault and kept on disconnecting randomly) was otherwise faultless, a wired version would do the same without the inconvenience of relying on batteries. The device came in packaged and presented well enough, and like its wireless twin was quick to set up as the drivers were loaded automatically. However I have spent a good while trying to get the thing to work to no avail. Two of the buttons and analogue sticks lock on at startup, and can only be reset by unplugging the controller from the sockets in the device. Also on some games and programs, any button or d-pad input is locked for the duration of the game or program running. I have had neither of these problems on the wireless version.
Also I found that an older version of this adapter was said to be incompatible with Windows 7 which was why I went for this one; it seems that either these have not been resolved or I just have a faulty product. Either way, this calls into question the quality control of the product, and this is being factored into my review. It is still a good solution for anyone who wants to use their classic controller with their PC, and the wireless version worked perfectly. Just proceed with great caution with this wired version.

Let me start by saying that my Wii Classic Controller Pro works flawlessly on my Wii. But once I connect it to my PC I get this weird thing where I can be holding down a button and suddenly it'll automatically let go and fire every single frame for a short while. The only reason I know that it's not just my thumbs that are acting up is because I simply can't mash at 60 Hz, but Mega Man will happily shoot his three bullets at that rate while I'm trying to charge my shot. I've tried connecting other DirectInput controllers (a no-name one, a Logitech Precision and a Logitech F310 in DI mode) and not a single one of them exhibit the same behaviour. For good measure I should probably mention that I'm connecting through USB3 to Windows 8.1.
Also, be aware that the d-pad directions are sent as both POV-directions and regular buttons (13--16) and it can mess up some software/games, and there seems to be no way to turn that off.(!)
For a little casual gaming, sure, it sorta works if you don't mind some random deaths every now and then, but I bought this for the specific purpose of speedrunning. It's absolutely useless for that purpose because, at best, it'll cause you to reset a lot and at worst it'll get you shunned as a cheater (because of the bug that can easily be mistaken for turbo/auto-fire). Sad really, because the Wii Classic Controller (Pro) has, by far, the most accurate d-pad of any (semi-)modern controller and I was really looking forward to using it on my PC.

Does the job well, It is as many say a straight forward plug in and play although I did spend a good 30 minutes just setting it up so I could use it with alsorts of games and programs i have on my computer, everything from old nintendo games up to current steam games I'm playing which have controller support and it works fine. I'm using the adapter with a Wii Classic Controller. The box recommended I get Joy2Key software online which I also got and it really helps with getting it to function properly with steam games. If it doesnt work at first, you may need to assign each key but thats kinda needed anyway.
