After some issues with the delivery men refusing to put it where I wanted (not quite the 'white glove delivery' I was expecting) Amazon customer service came through and resolved my problem.
When I opened the treadmill two plastic pieces came falling out - the underside of the handle cover was cracked...not a great start.
The treadmill itself is poor quality, the £600+ RRP is clearly inflated... if you buy it for that much you are being ripped off... go for better build quality. This weighs approximately 25kg less than something in the £600 price range and it shows. The handles are cheap plastic, the stickers look like they were printed on a label printer and stuck on in a 'pin the tail on the donkey' manner. The manual provided is a computer print off, the manufacturer cut corners to the extent that you won't know what the 99 modes do unless you email them. The suspension is non existent and the pulse rate monitor is a joke - flicking randomly from number to number.
On the plus side the belt goes round and round, the weights are appropriately weighted and the (severley dented) bottle holds liquids.
Do I recommend it? ..hmm.. think not!
Unpacking it was relatively simple and, since I was the only person around, I did it myself. Yes, it's extremely heavy at about 65-70kg (so the box says) but I didn't really struggle.
The process of building it was straight forward, the instructions actually make it more complicated than I think it needs to be, and is simply a matter of putting the correct bolts, nuts and washers in the correct places, giving them an initial tighten, then a wiggle of the machine before giving the bolts a final torqued twist.
Now, the instructions clearly state that the machine needs to be on a flat surface as it will affect belt skew and travel if it isn't. My machine is on a slightly uneven surface, tilting very slightly to the left as you face the controls. I thought it would be OK but the reality is, it wasn't and while following the first start-up instructions to check belt skew, that's exactly what it did. The belt slipped to the left at the bottom of the running deck and to the right at the motor end. I started adjusting hoping to be able to correct it while still on the very light slant. After about 45 minutes of adjusting I'd had some success with the bottom of the running deck but the motor end was still skewing right. I gave up and just made the machine level at this point.Read more ›
