i got this adapter as i was setting up wirless network, but the problem was my desktop didnt have a ethernet port so my modem was connected by usb. got this nifty thing and it worked like a treat with my netgear router that i jus bought previous. i can run both my computers runnin on the internet, have xbox live on the go and nintendo ds using wi-fi all at the same time. cant grumble at that, a tenner to fix a large problem with a simple converter like that, when some retailers are tryin to flog somethin exactly the same for double the price. good purchase

I'm using a Windows XP laptop on which the network card had broken.
I thought, rather than spending £s on having it repaired, I'd replace it with an external solution. I loked into the USB-to-Ethernet plugs, but they looked too cheap and I wanted something a little more robust.
So I chose this adapter, which turns out to have been a very good choice indeed. I received the adapter, installed the drivers from the CD, plugged it in - and it just works.

The adapter is relatively sturdy, looks finished, and is really really easy to use. It's not given me any troubles at all since I installed it a few weeks back, and compared to what some of the other adapters cost, this is definitely not cheaper because it's worse - in fact, it's really good.

I can't tell whether it works on any other systems, but I recommend it highly to anyone using WinXP.

I bought this in order to get copy protected software that is tied to a MAC address to run inside a VMWare Fusion virtual machine on a Mac. Mac OS X detected and installed the driver automatically, Windows XP took a bit longer (had to go online to get the drivers) but it was still pretty much plug n play. Vista was like XP, it had to go online to get the drivers, it took much longer than XP, but worked eventually. So if you have a Mac or have an internet connection, installation is simple. My copy protected software is now licensed to the MAC address of this adapter and works perfectly.

I am writing my 1st review on Amazon for this ethernet adapter.Purchased it about a month ago and it is working a treat for me. Just connected it up to my Wii, set the internet options on the Wii and away I went. It offers a fast and reliable connection to Wii online play and hasn't let me down once. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a wired internet connection fo their Wii.

I can confirm also that this device works with the Nintendo Wii, as a wired Ethernet adapter. Simply connect the USB plug into your Wii, and connect an ethernet cable into the dongles other end, and you can be connected without installing any extra drivers. You will need an ethernet cable though (unless you have one with your modem?)
Will probably work on a PC, but I didnt intend to use it for that!

Took it out of the box , read the instructions , put in the mini-cd with the drivers like it tells you to first , which was a breeze , and then simply plugged the adaptor into a spare usb port.

It`s sturdy , well built , just a bit smaller than the size of say an average pc mouse , it was all set up within just a couple of minutes and has never got warm during hours and hours of use and has never once let me down.

I have Windows XP and my ports are just USB 1.1 not even 2.0. I needed something robust to substitute the lack of an ethernet port on my steam driven pc until my newer one is repaired.

Works a treat.

First the good news. The item works fine. Having had a lightning strike which took out my Ethernet port, and faced with the prospect of transporting my 27in iMac from Crete back to Germany for repair (No Apple dealers in Greece), this little device has been worth its weight in gold. The bad news is that it requires a driver which is supplied on a mini CD. No Mac owner is going to risk inserting a mini-CD into an iMac as it will disappear never to be seen again. However after a little wizardry I managed to use a Windows machine to read the mini-disc and then sent the file wirelessly to my iMac.
Update: There are drivers available for download from the manufacturer's web site.

I needed a second ethernet port on my PC. So I bought one of these Great Value adapters instead of going through the aggro of installing a PCI card.
Installed the drivers, rebooted the PC inserted the adapter - Worked first time.
Apple users will be glad to know that drivers are supplied for OS 10.X as well.
Really impressed with how easy this all was.
