The Max Value Powerline Pass-Thru Ethernet Adaptor can be used with any Ethernet enabled devices, for example PCs & Laptops, Network Printers, Broadband Routers, ADSL or IP Cameras etc. Simply plug the unit into any power socket and connect the Ethernet port of the computer with the supplied Ethernet Cable, repeat with another computer or Ethernet enabled device. The mains pass through allows you to free up a power socket.

Given the orientation of the plug you might want to ensure you've got enough clearance between your socket and skirting board/floor.
Let down by the packing in post - the driver CD was smashed on arrival. As the external packing was fine I can only surmise that things were too loose in the box and the plug prongs punctured the CD (the hole in the CD's envelope matches that of the plug's prong).
However, be aware this is a big bit of kit. It is around the size of a half-brick and there are much much smaller homeplugs out there (the TP-Link PA211 for example - although not a power pass-through plug). It looks very susceptible to being knocked so unsuitable for use in a busy hallway.
Also note that plugging it into an extension lead seemed not to affect the throughput at all so perhaps the power pass-through is unecessary.
A final warning. Max value products are a bit bare bones with no online support. However, the equivalent named brand items seem to work exactly the same.
The home plug did not need any set up, just plugged it into the wall socket and connected the ethernet cable and I was up and running.
The only limitations I have with the product are:
1) The product came with a paper sheet giving instructions on how to install the software on the enclosed CD.
When you follow these instructions it says run the EXE file on the CD. The CD does not have an EXE file!
Having said that, you are able to run the home plug without installing any software.
2) The ethernet cable is very short, so unless your computer is about 1 metre from the wall socket you will need to buy a longer cable.
Be warned if you already have other 200Mbps devices and you are adding this to your network - it's highly possible they won't be compatible with this device, as type 1.0 plugs cannot talk to type 2.0. However, on our Homeplug 1.0 network we use at work, it was absolutely fine.
The throughput is as stated and I am more then happy with my purchase :).
