In the book Max Lucado covers problems people face in various aspects of their life in the manner of an agony Aunt, the problems are given in the form of a question and he then provides the answer, this is done using biblical references and his own vast knowledge from the University of Life. I found that from when I picked up the book I had difficulty in putting it down, on occasions I was thinking "that's me he's talking about" or "I know someone that refers to and I can use that to help them." The topics covered by the book are many and varied ranging from singleness to family and all aspects in between. This book can be used by everyone from seasoned pastor to new Christian as a reference book and will make a great tool to have in a library of Christian books. I would thoroughly recommend it as another great read from Max Lucado.
In more than twenty-five years of writing and ministry, Max Lucado has been the receiving line for thousands of such questions. The questions come in letters, e-mails, even on Dunkin Donuts napkins. Lucado writes about the role of prayer, the purpose of pain, and the reason for our ultimate hope. He responds to the day-to-day questions--parenting quandaries, financial challenges, difficult relationships--as well as to the profound: Is God really listening?
The questions feel like real questions asked by real people, not questions the author or editors came up with because they were the ones they wanted to answer. Questions like, "Why pray if God is in control?" (p. 77) and "Why did God heal my friend from cancer but not me?" (p. 81) and some very personal questions, like: How to forgive someone who has abused you sexually (p. 50); How to deal with anger issues (p. 45); How to treat an employee as a Christian and correct bad behavior but still be loving (p. 52).
The questions and answers are divided into seven topics:
With his laid back delivery Lucado leads the reader to hope and healing, guidance and comfort. The scriptural references are refreshing as we see the answers to our questions have been answered before we thought of them! With a separate index of listed subjects and scriptural references Max On Life promises to be a valuable reference book for the shelf of any family or individual.
God works in mysterious ways and sends help through particular Christian writers like Max Lucado.
Max does not leave any stones unturned as one by one he addresses questions put forward to him by wondering and questioning souls like you and me.
Never think you are too great or too big to ask a question from one of God's chosen Ones.
Thank you Max. Good job. Keep on keeping on.

Max On Life reminds me of a similar book by Billy Graham that was of tremendous help to me over ten years ago as a young Christian. I would recommend Max On Life as a good resource for any Christian as it does not shy away from the life's difficult questions. It is a kind of book one can always come back to for answers, while checking the Bible for more insight.
