I've got almost 20 hours of gameplay behind me now and I've been playing it with xbox360. And the end is not even in the horizon yet.
Truth to be told, I didn't expect too much when rewievs and metacritic has given kind of sucky ratings. But genre of this game is my favourite. I had watched gameplay videos from youtube and was very aware of graphics and such but because this game still kind of tickled something inside me I decided to order it.
And what a little pearl have I found! O.K. Map is not-so-holdin-your-hand as fable (in fact the map might me the weakest link in the game), voices of npc:s are sometimes irritating ("I don't know", "that's good" and so on, even when you are in the house. These voices are made to make city feel more lively but it's not exactly have been success).
Little glitches in graphics are in presence here and there but i'm not golden eye so I can forgive these and everything mentioned above because:
I always like battles between good and evil (even when my characters tend to be goody-two-shoes every time even when I try to play as an a-hole).
Venice is pretty well drawn and interesting enough to walk around (no fast transport in map, if you need to go another side of the town; you walk - this is pretty sure a big con in many players eyes but I don't mind too much, it helps to get the town's map into my head better, after all, map is not clearest of them all).
Battle and spells in this game has been made pretty well, to my taste.Read more ›
Some of the cut scenes are are long and some are pointless.
I paid just over ten pounds for this game which was not too bad, but it should be in the bargain bin for under a fiver.
Did you know that...
In Tennessee USA....More than 8 women may not live in the same house because that would constitute a brothel.
he assumed this was because it was a second hand copy. He was happy to have a brand new unused copy
thinking that all would be fine, he was wrong, Venetica (xbox 360) is full of bugs and glicches,
after removing all saved data and starting from the begining there are so many things going wrong
things that were there before not there all of a sudden, fight scenes where you lose your life as
dose your apponent then game freezes and when you unfreeze you still lose life point during a fight
but your apponent loses nothing. To my mind all glitches and bugs should be sorted before a game gose
on the market as it spoils peoples enjoyment when there are problems with games.
Dont let the pictures of the gameplay put you off..... you may think, this look rubbish, but it's not ....it a great little gem, The graphics are great so is the story and gameplay although a bit repetative. Lots of side missions and choices to make.
Gameplay is similar to Fables's and has an otherworldly element as seen in Soul reaver legacy of kain. Graphics are on the cartoon side, in the likes of Second Sight (old game for PS2 and XBOX) and while not brilliant they get the job done as far as you may see lazy textures but the game never looks ugly.
As far as campaign goes, you can choose to act good or evil (affects reputation and hence 2 different achievements) and have to choose at some point between 3 guild, that determining the skills-spells you'll get (also different sets of achievements).
Combat may feel repetitive but mapping spells and skills for each weapon made it satisfactory enough.
I could easily recommend this title, specially if found cheap BUT BE WARNED:
THERE IS A GAMEBREAKING BUG that makes some characters to dissapear and it's related to saving the game. You can play thru the game for 10 hours to find later than this or that character has gone forever (a well known bug reported to devs but still not solved -2011-) this meaning that you can't go further into the story or map so you have to start from scratch.
Happened me twice, be warned.
If you know this is solved by the time you buy the game, you'll be getting a gem of a game; if not, you'll find loving a game that may or may not betray your love once you've spent too many hours on it.
As you might know by now I'd give this 4 to 5 stars if it wasn't for gamebreaking bugs. I can stand bugs and glitches as long as the game is still playable to the end.

This game can be described as a diamond in the rough. It's unpolished, with shoddy voice acting and glitches aplenty (most are small, however!). Read morePublished on 25 Sept. 2012 by Victoria Hill
