I really loved the blend of military romantic suspense and erotic BDSM romance in Mastered by the Mavericks. I haven’t read the previous books in the series but after this one I’m thinking I definitely need to pick them up. While Mastered by the Mavericks hinted at events from previous books in the series it merely whetted the appetite for more. I in no way felt like I had missed crucial details necessary to this particular story.

When the story begins you get really fast just how close-knit this group is and just how hard it is for them to watch their brother in arms devastated and torn apart at the kidnapping of his pregnant wife by a mad scientist determined to breed the ultimate soldier. But it’s not just the men that are feeling the need to step up and rescue her. After all, Zoe is Brynna and El’s best friend and they’d do anything to ensure she comes home safe. Hearing that the enemy has a thing for redheads starts the wheels turning for a willowy redheaded, Brynn. So while she’s all for jumping on the bait bandwagon, her ideas aren’t exactly met with enthusiasm from Rebel and he’s fighting a losing battle in his argument. And his partner, Rhett isn’t exactly backing him up. About the time, Brynn lays him out flat three times it’s time to end the discussion.

Brynn with her degree in criminal psychology isn’t quite the picture she presents as a dancer. She’s also not sure what she got herself into with the two special forces sergeants that totally trip her trigger. While all of her friends seem to have settled into the whole BDSM lifestyle, Brynn wants nothing to do with walking that path in life. A little rough sex is one thing, but she’s seen just how devastating losing yourself in the submissive role can be to a person’s psyche and she’s not going there.

Mastered by the Mavericks is a passionate ménage romance spiced up with some BDSM and an exciting suspense storyline. This is book eight in the W.I.L.D Boys of Special Forces series, and although the blurb states that it works as a standalone I would recommend reading the other books first. I had read one of the previous book (book seven) but I still found the first part of this book very confusing. I spent the first thirty percent of the book feeling totally lost as it dealt with events from previous books. But once the romance part of the storyline really got going I couldn't put the book down.

When Brynna's best friend is kidnapped by a deranged lunatic, she is determined to take part in the rescue mission. This is how she finds herself holed up in the Texas wilderness with two Special Forces bad boys, Rhett and Rebel. She's been hurt in the past by dominant servicemen, so she's keen to avoid falling for the same type of man again. But the chemistry between all three of them proves difficult to resist. Can they rescue rescue Zoe and manage to keep their hearts intact?

I really liked all three main characters, especially the two guys. Rebel and Rhett both had distinct personalities and character traits, which made it easy to get to know them and tell them apart - in some ménage books I find that the guys are so similar they almost blend into one person. The relationship between Rebel and Rhett was really interesting and was the highlight of the book for me. The ménage scenes were very, very hot and great fun to read. Overall this was an entertaining story that receives four out of five stars.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

2.0 out of 5 stars My least favorite of the series... 11 Aug. 2016

I was really excited for this book since it was another 2 guys, 1 girl story, but I didn't really like it. First of all, the plot was ridiculous and pointless. These 3 are forced together in order to help get Shay's wife back. They are supposed to be the ones watching the place where she's being held captive. But that plot point is barely mentioned as these 3 just keep hooking up because their video feed has gone down. Oh well.
There's also way too much talking and analyzing of all of their feelings. The writer was constantly writing and explaining the characters' inner dialogue and it was exhausting to read. I was literally skimming pages. For the length of this book, not a lot happened. I've really loved this series, but this book fell way flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angel Payne just upped the ante!! 7 Dec. 2015

If you’ve read any of my previous reviews, you know that I’m a ’total fan-girl’ for Angel Payne - and this book just upped the ante!!

The story begins with our favorite WILD Boys watching their brother Shay fall apart due to his pregnant wife, Zoey being kidnapped by the quintessential ‘mad scientist’ - one that Shay is all to familiar with. All the ‘boys’ are now involved in the hunt for Zoe and the rescue to return her to Shay. Brynna is Zoe’s best friend and she will stop at nothing to help find her and bring her home. Now team her up with Rhett and Rebel, and the sparks are flying and the sexual tension is off the charts!!

Rhett and Rebel’s relationship is one of brotherhood, ultimate friendship and a LOT brewing just below the surface. They’re fine with the status quo, until Brynna joins them on Zoe’s trail in Texas and becomes the ‘bridge’ to the raw feelings they have for one another, but don’t want to acknowledge. Now, bring in the BDSM aspect (2 Dominants and 1 fearful untrusting (‘no, I’m not submissive’) red-head) and Angel Payne has written one of the best in WILD Boys series, if not the genre.

The deep-seated emotions begin on the very first page (my God, Shay just broke my heart) and continue to very last word …. from fear, anger, suspense, angst, heartache, friendship, humor, lust, passion, love, and everything in between …. and you can’t forget the sex scenes - OMG, you’ll need a freezer full of ice to cool down after you read these!!!

Must read with an HEA that’s perfect for these 3! Brynn, Rhett and Rebel are authentic, intense and breathtakingly raw - in other words, simply AMAZING!!

Got to be the best one yet. Well I still love my Zeke but Rhett and Reb are right up there with him. This book is intense with the drama and intrigue and hot hot hot as only the W.I.L.D. Boys are. It was so hard to put down to go to bed. You can't go wrong with this series and these WILD Boys of Special Forces

5.0 out of 5 stars Sizzling hot read 11 Dec. 2015

Omg,each book in this series shell shocks your soul to the point you need time to re group after reading one of the books in the W.I.L.D boys serious but this one, omg, this one was just as emotionally gut wrenching as Tait and Luna's story which I'm sure I'm still not over.
Omg Angel Payne ensures the most emotionally amazing read you can have.
First, Rhett and Rebel were so funny and wild in the other books, I was so my prepared for their journey although I'm so happy they found happiness with Brynna. She needed a happy ending.
This book is so worth the time and money but, get tissues and a bottle of wine you'll need both!

Please say there's more to series, we need more!

Great love story. So glad Brynna, Rhett and Rebel found each other. Glad the guys were able to show Brynna what she needed and they were able to figure out what they needed from each other. Glad everyone walked away with what they all needed. Can't wait to read more from Angel PAyne.
