It looks gorgeous and as a pastry board I'm sure it would be excellent.
Do be aware though that if you want it for a dual purpose, e.g. as a cutting board as well, there is small print on the reverse which says it should not be used for that purpose.
I received the second board which had a tiny chip in the corner. I decided to keep it as I thought it would be more hastle than its was worth to request a replacement.
The second time I used the board the marble split, very poor quality, would not order another.
I had also ordered a marble rolling pin at the same time and when placed in the holding groove along one edge, it was not very safe as the groove was rather narrow and very shallow and the pin was able to move all too easily at a slight touch.
Although it seemed a fair size in advance, in practise 37cm is barely wide enough for a size of pastry to fill a 10-inch or 26cm deep pie dish. If you rolled a portion of pastry to a perfect 37cm circle, it would suffice for an 8-9 inch, or 20-23cm pie dish but not any larger. That rather limits its usefulness.
There may be situations, when making some cookies, Chelsea buns and other things where you start by rolling out a rectangle of pastry and then spread with a filling before rolling into a sausage. These rectangles are at least equal in size to this board but there is then either insufficient working area (you need to avoid the groove and the narrow band beyond) or a margin to spare! For these reasons, I decided to return it rather than keep it because it seemed of rather limited utility.
On the good side, Amazon's service in the return and refund process was first class.
It is very strange. This item is extremely dissapointing and I cannot recommend it.
It is not cheap at this price.
Being marble would not recommended that you move it often as it is very heavy. Also keep vinegar away from the surface as you will mark it and NO CUTTING on the surface as it will be scratched.
If you get the matching rolling pin I would store iyt in the pastry board groove as it is more stable than the rolling pins stand.
