A pocket sized pnuematic rubber cushion pure bristle and nylon hair brush with dark ruby coloured handle. Regular brushing plays an important part in the condition of your hair. The Mason Pearson hairbrush cleans the hair, stimulates the scalp increasing blood flow to the roots. A natural conditioning oil--sebum--comes from a gland at the base of every hair; brushing spread it along the length of the hair giving it strength, suppleness and producing a healthy sheen.
Mason Pearson hairbrushes have a unique rubber-cushion pad, along with the classic handle design for added comfort. The design has never been bettered since its original 1885 design and is still being handmade with only the finest materials.

I find my hair feels much softer and smoother than with previous brushes I have owned. I would recommend cleaning the brush with the official brush cleaner. This looks like a rectangular hair brush, but it gets right down to the base of hair brush to clean out all the loose strands of hair.
I chose this rating (3/5) because so far, it's the best brush I've ever had. However, I do not agree with the fact that it does not tug on the hair "at all", but does so at a low degree. I think I will need some time to get used to this brush as the nylon bristles do penetrate the head scalp, and are quite stiff. Overall it's a good product, whether it was worth the money or not: I will find out.
I have now used this product for almost 3 years, and have come back to add to my original review.
The Junior Mason & Pearson bristle and nylon brush is, in my opinion, overrated. It is okay, it serves its purpose, but is far from perfect. What I like about it is that it is good quality, and the bristles have stayed in the same condition as when I first received this product. The brush is nice to look at, a style which will never go out of fashion. The brush does not leave my hair static, which is probably the biggest bonus of using this brush.
The reason I think it is overrated is that I do not think that this is a miracle brush. It still pulls on my hair, and as my hair is not thick, but I do have a lot of it, the brush is not sufficient to comb through in one go. I have to comb my hair in several layers because the brush does not penetrate through enough hair to smooth it out fast enough.
I have since also purchased the Denman (Boar Bristle Cushion Grooming Brush Medium) hairbrush which is often compared to the Mason & Pearson as being a good quality brush, but for a much smaller price. I have to say that the two work very similarly, however you can tell that M&P is of a higher quality. My Denman brush does shed to a small extent, whereas I have not noticed any shedding with the M&P brush.
Would I purchase again? No, not unless my hair started to thin drastically. For someone who has thin hair, but a lot of it, I do not think that this is the "holy grail" of hair brushes. I do not regret my purchase as I think the Mason & Pearson hairbrush will stay with me for a long time. The quality in terms of how it is made and how well it lasts is great, but for me, the functionality is not as amazing as what it is made out to be.
I love to read other people's reviews before purchasing anything from Amazon, and I hope that likewise, my review will help you to decide if this product is for you. I would really appreciate it if you could indicate whether it has been helpful by clicking below. Thank you
My first hairbrush for my long locks at aged 20 was a Mason & Pearson... To this day over 30 years later I still have that same brush. The bristles have worn out hence one reason I decided to replace it with another.
So go for it and be good to your hair. You will not be sorry or regret the investment 😄
