There are some good ideas here and enough to keep the plot trotting along but it's all a bit egad sir and hey nonny nonny and there are some clunky bits of exposition. I liked the imagination of the book but disliked its contrivances. Pleasant enough although there are some nasty murders and a fair bit of sex and violence, sometimes together.

A good read, a plot that twists and turns, I like the two main characters, both well written characters. Plenty of Elizabethan atmosphere. I am already reading the next in the series.

In the same vein as Matthew Shardlake novels by CJ Sansom, Good plot with a number of strands running through the story blending fact with fiction This is set in the reign of Elizabeth 1.

Characters are engaging, if a little shallow. Story line is good, but the ending is rushed. Hero is a likeable fellow and I shall continue with the series.
