This is the sort of album that you will play on your stereo for a long time because it doesn't demand too much from the listener in terms of the music. However, there is much clever word play on this finely crafted (if at times a little over produced) follow-up to Joseph's Sony debut album, "Being There." The listener who makes the effort to sit down and listen to these lyrics is in for a treat. Some of the lyrics are quite simply stunning, not least on the beautifully evocative "Cardiff Bay," complete with a delicate timbre of acoustic guitars and harmonised flutes and whistles; a real Celtic treat. The wonderfully memorable tune that is "Between the Raindrops" is matched only by that of the album's only single, "Talk About it in the Morning," with lyrics that deal with everyday issues in a no-nonsense cold fashion, free from over-sentimentality. There are some less than pleasing moments, not least on the rather dull and formulaic "Home To You." However, this can't really overshadow an album that is honest, heart-felt and well worth investigating.

Bought this early album after seeing Martyn Joseph live. Nice feel about this. Bought a couple of his others as well but like this the best. Not in the Dylan-Cohen-Mitchell category but that's asking too much.
