HASH(0x90445738) out of 5 stars Great Bang For Your Buck! 25 Jan. 2015

This DVD includes a sampling of the shows from Sig & Marty Krofft's portfolio. These were shown on Saturday mornings from 1969 to 1975.
Looking back on these, you can't help but realize how much work actually went into creating these and just how wacky they were!
For those of you that don't know, these are all live action shows with actors, sometimes in makeup and costumes interacting with children and adults. They are the shows that a generation of kids, myself included, grew up on and were quite the inspiration for creative thinking. One might even draw
parallels to these shows for some modern renditions (think Pee-Wee Herman who also grew up on these). They were all broadcast in full screen (think square) format which almost seems foreign and the copies used to create these must not have been masters as some episodes appear grainy. For those collectors out there this isn't really a great DVD as the quality is lacking and is especially noticeable in the Sigmond And The Sea Monsters episode as there is a noise line on the left of the picture. But overall for the money, this is an excellent and very affordable way to go back in time and relive some moments from your childhood or expose your children to something a little different.

The episodes are as follows:

H.R. Pufnstuf - Show Biz Witch S01E03 21:30
Sigmond And The Sea Monsters - Make Room For Big Daddy S01E11 23:53
The Bugaloos - The Great Voice Robbery S01E03 21:43
Lidsville - Mark And The Bean Stalk S01E09 22:18
Electra Woman And Dyna Girl - Ali Baba Part 1 & 2 S01E07-E08 23:25
Wonderbug - Go West Young Schlepcar S01E01 Schlepnapped S01E02 Total 23:21
Bigfoot And Wildboy - UFO Part 1 & 2 S01E04 24:15

There is also a collection of 25 still pictures of some drawings and artwork from the shows.

HASH(0x90401ed0) out of 5 stars 70's Saturday Morning Classics 9 Dec. 2014

H.R. Pufnstuf, Bugaloos, Lidsville, Sigmund & the Sea Monsters, Wonderbug, Bigfoot & Wildboy, and Electrawoman & Dynagirl are all included in this Krofft Supershow collection! The Krofts have produced family shows for over 50 years and became a Saturday morning mainstay in the 1970's with live action cartoons. Filmation was their number one competitor with shows like Ark 2, Space Academy, and Shazam with Isis(the comic book hero, not the terrorist group) thrown in for good measure. The Kroffts aimed more at the younger groups of kids from 4-12 years old while Filmation aimed at teenagers with teaching morals and presenting them with more adult challenges like minor crime(trespassing, theft, etc.) and survival skills(forest, etc.). Filmation had the advantage in special effects and Star Wars used one of their sets from Space Academy(the white colored hallways seen on Leia's ship when Vader boarded it on A New Hope). Although the Kroffts did not have that level of a budget, they were out to entertain little kids, not teens. I feel that both parties/companies did an OUTSTANDING job with the age groups they targeted and there are kids these days that watch Ark 2, Space Academy, and Secrets of Isis and love it and ask me why they stopped making them/it! I am begging Hollywood to bring back Filmation, if not both Filmation and the Krofft Supershow, maybe with only minor upgrades. Filmation would need only more modern colorization due to it's clearly large budget for back then. The Krofft Supershow would probably want to get rid of Lidsville but keep the rest. For the teens that watched Electrawoman & Dynagirl they got a treat. These two women were H...O...T! Isis(Joanna Cameron) from Filmation was my first crush! You get the idea. If you like family friendly stuff that will not skullwash your child, then you want this. Or maybe you just want a "blast from the past?" Go for it!

HASH(0x90261600) out of 5 stars NOSTALGIC AND FUN FOR THOSE OF US WHO GREW UP IN A VERY DIFFERENT WORLD! 7 May 2014
By DR SHOCK - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Sid and Marty Krofft may not have made great television, but they did make shows that kids would remember for the rest of their lives. This DVD showcases 7 different shows that the duo created featuring one episode each from each series. The episodes are approx. 24 minutes long and look quite good considering the source material.

H.R. Puffnstuff is probably the most famous series, but every Saturday morning kid has his personal favorite. To be honest, while I enjoyed watching this "hits" DVD, I would find it hard to sit through most of these show's complete series. I would have liked the set to include one episodes from all the series the Korfft's produced instead of only seven shows. To clear up some confusion, the DVD includes the seven episodes and only a concept art gallery, there are no on screen interviews or any pilot episodes from shows produced or scrapped.

All in all, I bought this for under $10 bucks and for the trip down memory lane, it was worth it. If this set had included an episode from all their productions, the Horror Hotel Pilot and a feature with the Krofft's, this would be a must have for fans of cereal munching Saturday morning kid fare!
