Marseille is a splendid place, amazingly buzzing, lively and full of fish - or so it seems. You are drawn to the waterfront, but there is so much more to see, and nearby places to explore that you'll want to take your time. In any case, if you've had the pukka bouillabaisse lunch, you won't be fit for much for a few hours. So, let this guide steer you gently through the streets, into the quiet places, around corners you might not otherwise investigate.

Excellent stuff, written by true professionals.

Not a great deal of detail nothing more than what's on the Internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little guide, all you need for an extended visit to Marseilles 9 Mar. 2014
By Anne Darling - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I have already downloaded this author's other travel guide on Bordeaux and really liked it so I thought i would try this one out too and I was not disappointed. Marseilles is a six hour drive from where I live but I plan to visit it this year and will take this guidebook with me on my phone.
The author has a clear yet concise style of writing and gives you the nuts and bolts of everything you need to know in terms of eating, where to stay, museums, sports, beaches, markets, local arts and crafts , background history and a whole lot more. It is astonishing how much information he has packed in to this small book.
There are also maps for each of the different sections so you can quickly find a hotel or restaurant; photos to whet your appetite for different attractions; and personal anecdote throughout which brings the guide to life and raises this guidebook to being not just another city guide but also a really interesting read. And with all the links the book contains, this book acts as a kind of mini hub for all the information you could need. I recommend it.

There was a lot of information in the guide but I was hoping for a detailed map to go along with it. I will have to purchase a separate map
