I first saw this film many years ago and have been looking for a copy for sometime.
Although it has a rather misleading title this little gem is worth watching especially for fans of 50's sci fi.
Definately worth adding to your collection.

This is a very, very entertaining Sci-Fi film - I enjoyed greatly watching it. Below, you will find some more of my impressions with limited SPOILERS.

First, let it be said, that this is an old film (1958), in black and white, with poor special effects, little budget, a so-so scenario and little known actors. So, why the heck did I rate it four stars? Well, there are many, many reasons:

1) This film is absolutely hilarious. Now, granted, many of the gags were not intended by the director and scenarist, but the final result WILL mightily cheer you up. I can not give away too many details, but let it be said nevertheless that the appearance of the "monsters" and the design of the alien spaceship provide a significant part of the fun. The final "battle for the Earth" scene is another part of the charm of this film - believe me, it is much, much better than those described in "Earth vs. Flying saucers" or "Independance Day" (which are both great monuments of comedy)...)))

2) The reflections about marriage as seen by men, women and "monsters" from outer space are great fun! However, they are NOT for the feminists...

3) This film was amongst the first to make a full frontal attack at the subject of "alien sex", by showing a group of human women who without a shadow of doubt had full intercourse with horrible alien creatures and adding that both sides actually ENJOYED it! Now, this being the 50s, nothing else than a couple of kisses is shown, but the whole film asks this question: "What exactly were they doing in their bedrooms?" and that gives it a very peculiar, somehow kinky, atmosphere...

If you are a serious collector of 50's Sci-fi...this movie is a must. Not only is the movie good in terms of content but the black and white camera work is a lovely thing to behold. Tryon's flat personality fits into this movie very well.

HASH(0x926e75f4) out of 5 stars Another 50’s alien invasion movie 24 Oct. 2015
By Wuchak - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
Released in 1958 and shot in B&W, “I Married a Monster from Outer Space” stars Gloria Talbott as a newlywed in Southern Cal who starts to suspect her husband is an alien from outer space (Tom Tryon).

Despite the silly title, the tone is serious and the special effects regarding the aliens and the way they possess people (or whatever) are quite good for the era. Right from the get-go the viewer knows who’s being taken over and we then observe the protagonist slowly figure it out, which leads to a well-done confrontation between the wife and non-husband. The second half reveals why the aliens do what they do and it’s kinda melancholic. All this points to why it’s considered a minor cult classic. Movies like this are worthwhile simply as historical artifacts to view American society in the late 50s, but compared to Sci-Fi giants from the 50s like “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (1951) and the monumental “Forbidden Planet” (1956) “I Married a Monster from Outer Space” is second rate.

The film runs 78 minutes and was shot in Bronson Canyon, Griffith Park and Los Angeles, California.

Don't let the title fool you! This is definitely one of the best sci-fi movies ever made! Ladies, if your husband doesn't seem to be his real self, beware!!

Takes me back to fun times and good scary movies. So happy I found it again. Tom Tryon was a hottie back then, too!. Will keep looking and buying more like these. Still love the black and white, but would be awesome in color. Just a little hint? :)
