While I have no reservations recommending it as a fully functional raincoat for the urban environment, I was unpleasantly surprised by the colour - I expected grey while the actual colour is more akin to blue, a very difficult shade of greyish blue that unlike classic mousy grey does not seem to go well with any other colours. What is more, the material has a light checkered pattern, which makes the coat even more difficult to match other accessories. The product pictures do not correctly represent the color and the pattern hence my review is 3 stars rather than 5 stars, which is what it would have been if the coat was grey and with no pattern.

The design of the coat is not for everyone.
The pros: has lots of pockets, is lined, is long
The cons: pockets are not placed intuitively - either too low or too high, the cut of the coat is not what I was going for, the chin protection flap that is supposed to guard me from zipper actually scratched my chin.

HASH(0x8fd15c24) out of 5 stars Poor design 2 Jun. 2013

I bought this coat for my trip to Buenos Aires for my summer vacation - it is winter in BA. The weather is not too cold but chilly and often raining so I needed a not too heavy lined coat, providing water resistance and some insulation. I am 5'3" tall, 120 lb. and normally proportioned. I ordered a small according to their size chart. However, this coat is designed for either a tall woman or those who have a long torso. The pockets are placed lower than for other similar designed coats from other companies - I compared with Merrell, Columbia, BCBG and Arc'Teryx. I contacted Marmot to discuss this problem but their customer service is terrible. I ended up returning this coat with my own postage expense. I recommend that the buyers should consider these facts.

This jacket looks amazing and fits perfect. It was a bit pricey but well worth it. If you get this jacket.. you will be looking forward to those rainy days.
