What a shame that lovely unrealeased versions like the gospel version of No woman no cry with the original wailers including Peter Tosh on Piano were not included. Little snippets of Bunny Wailer's accepellas including Smale Axe would have captured the feel of the film. Sadly this caught the Island/Tuff Gong merchandising that the the younger Nesta Robert Marley would of condemmed( if not Bunny would have). The Marley Clan need to deconstruct the process, look at what the Beatles did with Anthology and even their Love album. There are still lost treasures, you tube "she used to call me Da da". Their are horn mixes and even an undubbed version of catch a fire that could be stipped back. If you don't own any Marley it's a nice intro. If you do then it wont add much to your understanding of the man or his music.

Ok Marley the movie is released, which is very good and urge people to see. This cd is good, but we have seen a lot of compilations since Bob's death,Legend being the most famous. Ok this collection contains early material and four rare live tracks, but for a few quid more you can get the four cd Songs Of Freedom,my favourite Marley purchase.
So if you don't have a Marley collection,go ahead and buy it. But if like me you own a lot of Bob's stuff why bother...

Having seen the movie - I was really interested in hearing the tracks again, without watching the film again (as it's not yet on DVD so it would mean a visit to the cinema, and it was only on once). One thing I liked about this collection is that it has some of the older stuff Marley did with the Wailers - which Legend does not cover. If you like his older stuff (Three Little Birds etc) then Legend is worth getting, but this is more his early stuff. The best track on here has to be Corner Stone, which sort of describes his feelings about being neglected. After all, it was their tough luck if they did not recognise his talent.

Another great track on here is a cover of the legendary Small Axe, which both The Christians and UB40 have covered too. I prefer this version now. Another great track is Concrete Jungle which seems to be more laid back than some of his new stuff which is excitable and positive. Obviously classics like Get Up, Stand Up are here and sound fantastic.

I'm not sure who this is targeted at, because people who see the film are largely fans of Bob, and probably have a lot of albums of his, so I guess this is for seasoned fans who have not got round to buying Legend. Still, this is a worth a look, though it could have done with some rarities to get the fans in.

This CD is wonderful with some fantastic raw versions of the classic Marley sounds. BUT .... the mixed version of Exodus does not fit the otherwise fantastic album, I really dislike it and now skip forward whenever it comes up to play, it annoys me so much.... I am not the only one with this view, I have asked friends to give their opinion, I think one summed it up correctly by saying "I think Bob would turn in his grave if he heard this"..... the mix spoils the otherwise perfect album. My favourites have to be track 6 on both CD1, and CD2 RIP Bob but your music keeps us feeling alive xx
