Don't miss. Will never die. Top track of that year, 1986 (though had also been released the previous year) one of the ones you knew at the time defined the air, people, the new grass in summer, the leaves in autumn and what was in the magazines and in the news. The song which was to introduce the chart career of great singer songwriter Suzanne is probably her most memorable, and one of her best. It's more distinctive than the others, I feel, as it sounds like her most independent. Like she wasn't having to please record company officials, and she was not long out of college. It's not to put her later released songs down, but there's a really secure, feisty but utterly calm and mature, striking independence clear in the simple 'Marlene' with the intriguing arrangement.

Purchased for my husband, who simply loves Suzanne Vega. I think she's OK, and this is, admittedly, a decent track. My husband thinks it's brilliant, & plays it all the time, hence the rating.
