I give this book 5 stars
I don't like spoiler reviews so I am going to try to do a worth review because I love this series, and hope it will continue, as I think it's got the potential to be a long book series. You can never fully defeat evil and the "Shomrei" are immortal so that hopefully means that Ms Monroe's has got lots of ideas for future books! ( fingers crossed here)
This review is my own opinion and will be posted on my blog and linked with Booksniffer Review Tours, for the release of Book 2 Marked by Hades.
One choice away from eternity… For 911 years, Gatekeeper companion Justin Bradford has denied the possibility of being mated to only one woman. He enjoys them all too much to settle down. So when he feels his mate’s Ahavah mark surface, his first instinct is to ignore it. But when he sees the leather-clad beauty in need of his help that’s easier said than done…
Yvonne wakes up naked on a cold park bench in a small town with no memory of who—or what—she is. All she knows is the gentle man who woke her was turned to dust when she touched him. And now the strange mark that appeared on her shoulder throbs in the presence of the raven-haired man now offering to help her…
As Justin and Yvonne navigate the mystery of her past, their bond grows, but the secrets they discover and the sacrifices that must be made could be enough to rip them apart for eternity.
In this New Adult tale of Good versus Evil, Reese Monroe gives continues where she left off in her world of angels and demons, and supernatural beings the "Shomrei," the Gate Keeper's who were created by the breath of God.Read more ›
I liked the storyline it was full of action and romance and I quite liked the writing even if it was a little cheesy at times. The big problem I had with this book was that it was far too long. It just seemed to go round in circles and get a bit repetitive. I have to admit that I got a little bored of it because it just seemed to drag on and on.
Another problem was Yvonne/Dyre who is one character. She kind of let people walk all over her, she slept around because she wanted to be close to people and feel loved and then let those men bully and push her around. I quite liked Yvonne, she had a little more personality than Dyre.
The best thing about this book is Justin. He is a great character and I really liked him he was sweet and had a lot more personality than other characters in the book.
There are lots of problems with this book and I am by no means saying it is perfect but I did find it really entertaining.
I read this book and the 1st book in the series over a weekend. I love them, as most fans if my blog know I prefer fantasy books and these were right up my street.
In this book we catch up with Theo and Sadie, but this is about Justin, Theo's brother and companion. Justin was my favourite character in both books, there's plenty of fighting with the demons I hades, even Lucifer and Gabriel put in an appearance.
This series is building into a great series of books, I like the fact that both books are around different characters with plenty of twists and turns.

At almost 300 pages and 99 cents... you really can't go wrong. Unless it's a complete dud and even then I usually force myself to get through at least 40% of a book before giving up.
I went into this with fairly LOW standards. I haven't read anything by Reese Monroe (but I'm still an Entangled Fan).
I was VERY surprised.
This story is great. There is so much action and adventure and mystery surrounding this book that it kept me in suspense for almost two days. There was *just enough* romance to keep it spicy but not overly so that I was wondering where the story was.
There is SO MUCH backstory that I could easily envision this world. It was a refreshing step outside my comfort zone (and yet still safely within my boundries) and I really enjoyed the time with it.
Will I download and read the next book in the series? Definitely! I'm not salivating for it as others are, but I'm looking forward to it.
I recommend this book to anyone - if you haven't read Forged by Fate do so first then come back and read this one. As sequels go this one doesn't miss a beat. I live Justin and Yvonne's story and can't wait to see what comes next.
900 year old gatekeeper never wanting for his mate!
Oh well bad playboy!
Strap down the house, and get ready to get away for a day in an ultimate book getaway :)
I would definitely recommend a must read
