This DVD concert is dire as it is ruined by the absence of the great version of Sultans Of Swing and Money For Nothing which were both included on video version. I was so looking forward to the DVD release for the superior sound over video tape and couldn't believe these two songs were omitted. What was the reason for this and who made the decision? Usually with DVD you get EXTRAS, not less!!!!!

MArk Knopfler is undoubtebly the best guitarist in the World. He has consistently produced brilliant music for 25 years and this review by a 17 year old is testament to how highly I rate this man.
The video itself is probably the least good MK video and takes some getting used to. On the Night and Alchemy are far supereior but as always there is still much to admire.
The video is essentially aa advertisement for the Golden Heart album and he plays about 10 songs from it. Interwined in them are DS classics.
Highlights of the show? The jamming sessions with sonny Landreth most notably Gravy train and je suis desole. Sultans of swing is great but the best bit is Rudiger. Magnificent guitaring and drumming.
Jools Holland and a classical orchestra are also present, as is his wife!
PLease buy this. You will not like it instantly but this is MK at his best, as usual.
Thanks again Mark!

Little needs to be said about the genius behind that very poker faced facade of Mark Knopfler. Surely there is no better example of this guitar workmanship than sultans of swing and money for nothing. SO WHY AREN'T THEY HERE??!! They were on the video, and its such a shame because the sultans of swing is truly fantastic. Of course, songs such as Brothers in Arms and Romeo and Juliet are top notch, and lesser known songs such as Done with Boneaparte and Gravy Train shine through. Its a top quality music DVD, but it could and should have been so much better with those two songs.

"Sultans Of Swing" and "Money For Nothing" are not included in this version, while are included in the VHS version.
They were both greatly performed by Mark and his musicians. This beautiful long version of "Sultans Of Swing" was between "Romeo and Juliet" and "Done With Bonaparte", while "Money For Nothing" was between "A Night in Summer Long Ago" and "Brothers In Arms". The quality of audio and video is good, and the performance of Mark is simply perfect. So why these two songs disappeared?

Oh dear. I was literally seconds away from wasting my money. A true Knopfler and Straits super fan, looking forward to adding the DVD version to my collection (I have the video), but now ever so bitterly disappointed in the absence of songs performed which were deleted - why? I don't understand. I have to agree also, the sound is ever so poor and very badly compressed and mastered.

I cannot really recommend a DVD that is so lacking sparkle, AND lacking two of the greatest performances of the 2 biggest hits in his repertoire. Oh, sack your mastering engineer - it sounds narrow, dull, hissy, and compressed. Sorry Mark, I love you, but this ain't cricket.

It was a miracle for the fans that both DIRE STRAITS and MARK KNOPFLER have been realeased few days ago. This concert of MARK in LONDON is great thanks to the mix of all of these musicians that you will see on this dvd (paul franklin, sonny landreth, jools holland, the irish band and the fantastic electra strings etc...)The best titles of this dvd in my opinion are RUDIGER, ROMEO AND JULIET (as usual!)BROTHERS IN ARMS and the rare GRAVY TRAIN.This dvd is for all the fans and for all the people who love great music:there is no falt and every song is a beautiful history.Just a bit dissapointed because the sound wasn't remixed for dts 5.1 but now we are waiting for the dvd of the sailing to philadelphia tour which was fantastic.Like M.KNOPFLER says : thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu ! for this DVD
