Once again Ms Winters has drawn complex characters and woven them into a well thought out plot. Both Libby and Mark are certainly put through the wringer and the story is told from both perspectives. I really felt I lived Libby's terror during her captivity and sat up late to find out what happened as the images were so clear that I did not want to have nightmares reliving her fear in my sleep.

As with book one, Alex's story, the secondary characters that form part of the TEAM are continuing to grow in their own right leaving me wanting to know their back story, especially Harley although Zack is next.

I have given it 4 stars rather than 5 because I felt that after all Mark and Libby had been through the ending could have been stronger and whilst applaudable that they were saving themselves was it realistic in this day and age that Libby could be first with one marine to the point of planning a wedding and then with another and still all three of them not partaking in any sex into their 30's.

Loved this book. Loads action and emotion. Fast-paced and well written. Commendable and believable for Mark and Libby to be in their situation in their mid, late 20s. Not all in world are the other way. Cryptic as won't spoil story. No heat.

HASH(0x91120894) out of 5 stars Not as good as the first (possible spoilers) 16 Jun. 2014
By SouthernSky - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I don't think the relationship between Mark and Libby was developed at all. The book is more focused on the Russians and what was going on in Afghanistan. I guess I just feel cheated because I expected to read about the relationship but it was mostly a blink and you miss it kind of thing. O e minute she's living in Chicago and ignoring Mark, the next he saves her from her creepy teacher guy, then she's in love with him and he's calling her his girlfriend. I was flipping back and forth trying to find what I missed. I was really confused through most of it.
I gave this three stars because I really liked Mark and the first few chapters were fantastic. As for Libby, I just couldn't like her. It's hard to really put into words why that is. She was just so fake and I couldn't find anything to like about her. The ending I felt was anticlimactic. I loved the first in the series so this was a big let down.

HASH(0x9112081c) out of 5 stars A bit disappointed 25 Feb. 2014
By Book lover - Published on Amazon.com

There are so many good summaries out there that I won't bother you with one more. In any case, the plot kept what the blurb promised: there was a love story and there was a suspense part. I know that many suspense romance readers won't agree with my approach to separate those from each other. Basically I agree and believe me, it's the first time I do that when reviewing. However, in this case this was necessary, especially when taking into consideration that these two parts did neither blend with each other nor complement each other to create a smooth and rewarding outcome.

The romance between Libby and Mark was OK - nothing special like in Adam's and Kelsey's case (previous installment of the series), which definitely set the standard against which I'm going to judge any further installment of the series. Libby was depicted as a young and inexperienced woman, a fact which was clearly reflected in her behavior and attitude, which sometimes gave me a really hard time. Mark had more life experience, his bearing and mannerism more mature. However, I was very disappointed to discover that both of them were sexually inexperienced and that they advocated against premarital sex. Nothing against this point of view but I just thought that this idea didn't round off the romance part. Maybe because this thread wasn't harmonically enough presented and seemed therefore out of context?

I appreciated the glimpse into Adam's and Kelsey's life. It was also very interesting to see that Mark had his difficulties with Adam's "management style". These "boss - employee difficulties" let the heroes appear very real life and I considered this a very nice touch.

Now the suspense part of the book was very disappointing. I considered this part of the plot not plausible. I know, this is a book of fiction and therefore there is no need to be realistic. True. However, no matter how (un)realistic the storyline, it has to be elaborated properly, the result or general impression has to be harmonic. I didn't think this was the case in this book and was therefore really disappointed when I closed the book.

HASH(0x917afe88) out of 5 stars Made me cry 27 Dec. 2015
By Rochelle Madrid - Published on Amazon.com

Mark has to do the worse thing possible he has to tell his good friends girl ( that he secretly loves) that he is not coming home. Libby is heart broken not so much for the man she is not sure she truly loved but for the promises broken.
She finds dsl that she is the target of a sick and very crazy man. Can Mark and his team save her and her family in time? Can Mark tell Libby how he truly feels.

This is a well written clean read. I note that so those who only read clean books will know. I like a little spice, but really liked this read. Great story line and good characters. Wi. Keep you on the edge of your seat in certain chapters and in tears in a few.
HASH(0x911b57a4) out of 5 stars Irish Winters has out done her first book! 15 Feb. 2014

Mark (In the Company of Snipers #2) by Irish Winters
5 out of 5 Stars
Irish Winters has out done her first book, Alex! I don’t know how she makes you care so much for her characters, but she simply pulls every emotion from you and has you needing to finish the book because you can’t leave the characters stuck in limbo. There is a place where Mark and Libby, the two main characters in this book, are standing on the porch and he’s leaving to go back to Afghanistan and in reality it’s time for dinner…but you just have to let your family starve for a few more minutes because you just don’t care to eat. You NEEEEDDD to know what they say, you can’t just leave them standing there in a state of paralysis while you eat. It’s THAT kind of book!
Mark is just your good hearted, teddy bear, needs to be loved because he had an A-hole for a dad kinda guy who takes his job in the Marine Corp seriously and his place on the TEAM is no different. Libby is a small town Wisconsin girl who fell in love with another Marine and always dreamed of having the perfect life. 2.4 kids, her working in the local hospital as a nurse, a small farm, and happy ever after. But all that changes when Mark brings her the news that her Marine isn’t coming home.
From there Mrs. Winters takes you on an amazing adventure involving the FBI, TEAM’s covert ops, drug smuggling, shoot outs, love like you’ve never seen it unfold, and we can’t forget Alex and Kelsey from the first book! We also get to see Murphy, Harley, Ember, Mother, Zack, and the whole crew to include Smoke and Whisper the two cutest German Shepherds on the planet!! And no spoilers, but I think love is blooming for one of our other hunky men at the end!!! I can’t wait!!!
So I would definitely recommend starting with Alex because you wouldn’t want to miss his and Kelsey’s story (and how TEAM got started) and then jumping into Mark as quickly as you can!!
