Product Description

About the Author

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm. When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently (still) resides in the big shake (although her southern roots are calling her home) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent). For lagniappe (a little extra), a virtual cup of café au lait and beignets, please visit Annie’s website: www.annierosewelch.com

I didn't read the blurb for this book before I read it. Sometimes I like to be surprised by the storyline and boy was I surprised with this one. I FLOVED this story. I was pulled in by the characters from the start. They are sassy, stronger than they know and very, very loveable. I kinda liked the ending but can't say why without ruining the plot for everyone. Annie Rose Welch has created an amazing, warm and thought provoking story which caught me up from the very start.. Really liked the numerous touches too. I would recommend this book to anyone. Especially those with an open mind and caring soul.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review and I am so glad I did!

Well, had I come across this book without the author giving a copy to me for my honest review, I wouldn't have looked twice at it. Paranormal just isn't my thing.....Don't let that deter you...PLEASE!!

First of all, it is romance with an "element" of paranormal. I have ideas in my head of what I think paranormal is in the life of the book genre, and this was not it. I am so thankful I read this book and not passed it up because of that. Ms. Welch is a mastermind when it comes to story telling!

The story starts with us meeting Evangeline, a young girl who had a dream about a boy who saves her. She is a firm believer in these dreams as it is part of her upbringing. Her family has this gift and she believes in it. But as time goes on and she grows older and life takes a toll, she loses her belief in this gift.

Skip to the present and Evangeline is married and had a son. She lost her child in a horrible incident just before birth and since then, her life has been turned upside down. She and her husband have been separated for two years. We find her struggling every day just to get through. Then suddenly, fate steps in.

Gabriel Roberts is a world famous movie star that is in New Orleans filming a movie. Poor Evangeline has some health issues and on a particularly bad Friday, she finds herself in need of some help. Gabriel steps in. It's his last day of filming and he asks her to show him around town before he leave. The two connect on an incredible level. From there the story takes you on a magical ride.

"Would you like to spend the day with me? I know it's the Fourth of July and please don't feel obligated to say yes. It's just that --last night was one of the most amazing nights of my life.

What an amazing book! This is one of the most incredible books, I've ever had the honor in reading. It hit me right to the core of my spirit!! I can't remember crying that hard, at so many different parts of the book. What Eva went through with Leon. I also went through, just about the same-thing many years ago. I love they way this book was written with the faith in God that Annie has. If you are struggling with love or faith this is a great book to read. Annie thank you for sharing God the way you did In this book. It is wonderful to read this kind of book. I give this book 5 STARS!!!!!

This is a really brilliant story that has totally shocked me. It has shocked me in the sense that I really didn't think I'd like it. Paranormal and religion are two words that put me off reading a book. Lately I've found a few authors/tour host organisers coaxing me to give a book a try that's not my usual read.
The tour host organiser of this book asked me to take a chance and I'm so glad I listened to her. I was so gripped with this storyline. The paranormal and religious angle is not thrown at you. Fantastic job by the author.

Im always reading. On the odd occasion I read a book that gives me goose bumps. This is one of them reads. I felt in parts my heart was gonna stop.

I'm not going to go into the storyline as I don't want to give anything away. All I'm going to say is this is a really brilliant read that I'll be highly recommending.

I'm so happy to hear there is more to this series.

Marigny Street has left me speechless and emotionally spent. I had a hard time getting into Marigny Street at first, but then it gripped me and just WOULD NOT let me go. I suspect the book will stay with me for a long time to come; it was incredibly poignant and thought provoking.

Both characters were complex, believable, and not so different from people I know in real life. I loved Gabriel almost immediately but struggled a little with Eva and her grief, maybe because it hit somewhat close to home. Eva was broken from the loss of her son, just going through the motions of life, and Gabriel was an actor not entirely comfortable with his fame. To say it was love at first sight would make light of their relationship; you'll have to read for yourself to understand what I mean. (The Disney song "Once Upon a Dream" comes to mind.)

Marigny Street was incredibly, vividly descriptive. I've never been to New Orleans, but I could see, hear, smell, and taste everything so clearly that I feel as though I have been. Annie Rose Welch has a gift for making you feel like you are truly there with the characters.

This was the first book I've read by Annie Rose Welch, and I was truly touched by it. I am looking forward to diving into the second book of the Saving Angels series right away, and I've already followed the author on both Facebook and Amazon. (Yeah, it was that good.)

I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog.
