This book is absolutely up my street. I love true accounts of families fighting paranormal incidents in their homes. It's a case of "it could possibly happen to me" that keeps me glued to each page.
This true account is written well and definitely keeps you interested. I didn't want it to end. One of the better true accounts amongst many books I've read of the same genre.

Was scary because it seemed realistic and honest. But do I think there was a ghost? - no absolutely not just a series of unfortunate events.

1. Wasn't long enough
2. No detective work

But likeable narrative,

Not so much a haunting as a lot of random incidents of bad luck. Ambled along but not particularly interesting.

Very good book,I found it interesting as the author gave the events with no drama added, just how it happened and the tragedy the family had to cope with, I found myself angry at the supposed friends who avoided her and blocked her on fb, who would do that, so cruel, she left the reader to make a decision on the house, I'd say there was to many unexplained and awful events for it just to be bad luck. Haunted by somthing for real.

This is a true story, making the events that happened all the more creepy. The author doesn't try to convince you; she gives you the facts and lets you make up your own mind. It is very well written and concise.

Perhaps the only negative thing to say, is the author constantly dismisses her own story throughout this book. Maybe she's trying to appear sceptical but I think the last doth protest too much :-)
I'm of the opinion that a good scary story should be mundane. It's definitely these constant, inexplicable variations in the everyday events of life that add up over time to make a riveting and unnerving story like this.
The added tragedies of Jim and baby James whilst not paranormal events themselves, would certainly have left me in no doubt that it was time to move.
This is the fourth true haunting book by Rebecca P. Howard I've read, but Russ had a decidedly different tone. Of course the last one I read was number 3, written by someone younger, and before the loss of a child, so maybe that's still to fresh in my mind as I write this review. I'm not the person I was a year/month/week ago, but that's MS for ya :) so maybe I shouldn't expect the same author after her life changing events.
Ignore the Jennie Dyer pseudonym. It's Rebecca P Howard continuing her true haunted series, and it's well worth a read, if a little shorter than usual.

This is a good short read which does get you thinking. I think I agree and you really need to make up your own mind about it. The book does not really have a ending and nothing is explained but I guess that is true to life.
