Laing works her own story alongside that of Mansfield and mostly seems to pull this off with only the occasional lapse of flow here and there. The drawing is not overly crisp, but it is clever and does its job nicely, though I did have a bit of a problem in trying to decipher some of the text in hand written form, too many times the personal touch she was aiming for fell into a messy chicken scrawl which was annoying, but nevertheless this was a really enjoyable read told with a compelling warmth, honesty and humour and she summed up the life of Mansfield fairly well too.
