Reviewing this for Harper Impulse Fortnight, I thought i'd never get the review posted in time, however, once I started reading I simply couldn't put it down. I read it within under 24 hours and enjoyed every passionate page that I turned.

Cade Sloan is my latest heart-throb hunk in the fictional world, and even today - 2 whole days after reading it I'm still swooning. He might not be every woman's idea of a hunk, but for me, I adored him! But saying that I have always had a thing for a tall, rich powerful man who is the right side of Grey. I for one thought Nina was a very lucky woman to be in his presence, actually, I could be slightly jealous of her!

However, Nina is a very feisty, sarcastic - (girl after my own heart there) and determined woman. Starting out as Cade's secretary she is propositioned by Cade into marriage. The deal is, marriage for money. They marry, he gets money, and she gets a cut. However, it all turns somewhat dramatic when Nina overhears Cade on the phone after they are married. She thinks he's talking in derogatory terms about her. But I always say; "never eavesdrop a phone call - you'll never know both sides" (unless its on speakerphone which it wasn't).

A year later after Nina skipped out on him following the phone call and Cade in all his manly glory - I swear I can imagine him in a Hercules costume - pursues Nina and demands that she be his Cinderella - in and out of the bedroom.

I had so many laugh out loud moments with Nina, and can honestly say that her wit, sarcasm and personality is very like my own. There are two scenes that stand out to me and still have me laughing as I write this - much to the amusement of my Mother.

ARC supplied by publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review

I'm kind of stuck on how best to review this book. The blurb made it sound like something that would appeal to me and it was a fairly short read which is always handy to have waiting to be read when I manage to grab a bit of time out of my life to be able to sit down!

But Oh Dear, the plot was jumbled up so much I was getting dizzy trying to follow it. The two MCs seemed to jump around the world every other page with no real explanation as to why and with obviously no care for their carbon footprints.

She may or may not be a hacker who is embezzling his company. Her father, who has been missing for heaven only knows how long might also be the hacker, or it could be His uncle or all or any of them.

She definitely marries him but then skips out with a large amount of his money before the marriage is consummated and reappears in Italy running a high end lingerie store.

He doesn't trust women because he has Mommy issues and anyway he comes across as a complete jerk.

OK having said all of that I liked the writing style and, if the plot itself had been less jumbled, had more explanations and, maybe, in a longer format the book could be improved into a truly readable novel.

These are of course only my personal feelings on the book.

Manhattan Millionaire's Cinderella is not the modern adult fairytale I expected from the title and blurb.

Character driven; Cade and Nina are easy to visualise but hard to like. I usually empathise with at least one of the main characters in a romance but I didn't. The globetrotting and unmitigated vitriol between Cade and Nina exhausted me.

Cade's arrogance and tunnel vision combined with his Neanderthal insensitivity towards Nina: a woman he is supposed to care about makes him irredeemable in my eyes he doesn't deserve his reluctant bride.

Nina is loyal to her family but shows no loyalty to the man she agreed to marry. I found this inconsistency in her character unsettling. She is supposed to be playing Cade to achieve her aims but she is the one doing the chores and losing her dignity.

I understood the plot although I had to re-read sections to do so. Clever but over complicated its explanations seem abstract and not supported by previous evidence earlier in the story.

This story is an acquired taste with memorable characters.

This is a very fast paced, incredibly short book, with a whirlwind of a book, with the pace never letting up. But with that pace, it feels as though you are getting lots of half thoughts.

All the ideas present in the book were good and if they were fully developed and the book had been about twice as long, this would have easily been a five star read, as there is so much potential in the story. However the way it has been written, left me confused for most of the story, and the only thing I know for sure is I did not like Cade Sloan.

I would go as far as to say I hated the way Cade Sloan treated Nina, and although I get that intially he was forced into a marriage, the way he makes Nina repay her debt, moved him even further down my list of leading men that I like.

There was a lot of locations featured briefly in this book, and I liked the setting of Cyprus for a fair amount of the story, but even though you have characters jet setting around the world, you never really get a feel for any destination, which seems a shame, even more detail about the hotels would be been good.

I barely got a feel for Nina's character at all. She seemed at all times very reluctant to go along with anything Cade said, but I didn't fully understand her other motivations apart from the obvious of money.

Overall I found I did like this book, but thought it could have been a lot better than it was.
