I bought this to use as a lightweight and compact support for my Canon EOS 5D MkII while on holiday in New Zealand. I wanted to make the most of the opportunity to take some night time shots of the southern hemisphere sky while in the best dark sky preserve in the world, but couldn't really take my full size tripod due to its size and weight.

I used this tripod to support my camera on the roof of my car. It handled the combined weight of my 5Dii body with a 17-40L lens just fine, a total of 1325g. I did have to ensure that the tripod was rotated relative to the camera to ensure that one of the three feet was directly beneath the lens, otherwise it was a bit less stable.

One limitation is that the camera can not be tilted up more than about 35 degrees due to the design of the ball head, hence the four stars. This is addressed in the newer PIXI EVO model.

Having just purchased a new Olympus OM-D EM10 MkII I wanted a small and light tripod to take with me on walks that would complement this camera without carrying excess bulk. Having looked around for a while I decided this one, the Pixi Mini (not the Evo as that is bigger), would best suit my needs. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but when it arrived and I took it out of the packing I was very impressed with the quality of materials used and the build. It's small but feels very substantial and robust in the hand. I set up my camera on it with the normal lens attached and it is rock steady with nice grippy feet. The ball joint is quite stiff but I was able to use the in camera "spirit" level displayed on the screen to get it absolutely level without a problem and it stayed that way through quiet a few shots with the ball joint never moving. I then decided to give it a challenge. I had purchased an adapter for my Olympus so that I could use some 30 year old SLR lenses and so I put the adapter on the camera, followed by a 2x tele-convertor I had and then followed by the 70-210 zoom lens. This is quite a weight to handle and take shots with and nearly impossible to get a shot without blurring and so a tripod is essential. I set the camera/lens combination on the tripod and to my surprise despite the length and weight of the combined lenses it managed all of this just fine. I then set the lens to maximum zoom and set the camera shutter to silent and a small delay (to prevent and camera movement) and pressed the shutter and waited for it to take the photo. The image was superb and crisp with no blur. Quite an achievement for something this compact with all that weight out the front. I am now looking forward to trying this out on my walks.

Bought many Manfrotto products over the years. Thought this would be useful as I went on an expedition to Iceland and just wanted something to hold my camera for long exposures.
Although good at doing just that - I personally would have like more adjustability in how wide the legs can spread. You don't really have much of a choice when using this as it's default setting is its widest point which even having legs extended, is still quite low. Also, having pointy tips made the legs dig in to sand which lowered the overall height even further.

Overall, a good product. But if you want more adjustability - choose something else.

Unlike the Gorillapod SLR that I also have, this tripod is rock solid. The Gorillapod is just springy enough to introduce a slight quiver that's really annoying. So although this isn't as flexible, it's the one I use. The ball head gives you a reasonable freedom of movement – the only thing you can't do is turn your camera into portrait orientation. You press the red button to release the ball head, which is nice and easy although it's quite a strong spring that I need to press with my thumb. It holds even a heavy camera really tight though. With my Olympus E-M5 and big 12–40 lens, there's no angle this tripod can't cope with, though it feels more stable if you swivel the lens so it's in line with a leg.

The tripod feels strong and well made. It's very stylish and very light. I really like it.

I've bought quite a few portable tripods for mobile phone photography over the past few years. This is by far the sturdiest, highest quality feeling mini-tripod I have owned. It is so solid (as you'd expect from Manfrotto) and in use, holds the camera (or mobile if you buy an appropriate adapter) extremely sturdily. There is no movement whatsoever! The ball head is excellent for making fine adjustments to the angle of your shot, and again once you let go of the red button, there is no movement in that joint - really steady shots.

When the legs are folded in, this also makes a nice grip handle for shooting video.

If you take a lot of pictures with a small camera or your mobile - this is highly recommended. (If you're using with a mobile, don't forget you will need an adapter to hold your phone.)

I'm a photographer. I have tripods that would (and do) make your eyes water to carry around all day. This little piece of kit goes with me everywhere as it'll safely take a dslr plus medium lens and give you a nice low perspective. I bought a second one for my trail cam and it's perfect for shooting the night time critters that use my garden. Well priced, Manfroto quality, durable and easy to carry. What's not to like!
