"The Forgotten Fixtures" chronicles friendlies, testimonials, basically any non-competitive first team game played by Man Utd.. you can see how much work has gone in to it. Not only is there an account and line up for every game, but also chunky descriptions of the game, events, goals, and also events occuring around the games to give it a constant context. The tours of Australia in the 70s and South Africa in the 90s are documented, and it's interesting when looking back to see that the money spinning tours tended to come at the end of the season rather than the start of pre-season! I could not recommend this book highly enough, it really is a fantastic "must have" for any United follower.

I love this book for two reasons; the first reason being that it is different from the usual statistics book about Manchester United F.C. You won't find these games in the usual MUFC history books. The second reason, and my main reason for buying the book, is that my Dad is mentioned in one of the write-ups. He played for Bury F.C. in the 1950s and played against Bobby Charlton in Bobby's first match in the first team for MUFC and Dad scored Bury's only goal in that game.

The book arrived promptly, well packaged and in excellent condition and for only 44pence plus p & p was an absolute bargain!

Well researched and presented, this is an excellent book for United fans. I would like to have seen details of the pre season trial matches included but you can't have everything. Hopefully Iain is working on a pre war volume. Highly recommended.
