OK, this is exactly the book I've been waiting for. It is, essentially, a comprehensive introduction to management consultancy, encompassing everything from critical theory to day-to-day practice to how to get a job in the industry.
Although it's principally an academic book, it's still very accessible to those who don't already have a strong background in the area. This is due to the straightforward tone and approach of the author and the book's user-friendly structure - chapters are well-laid out, easy to read and well-constructed, so ideal for a dip-in, dip-out read. The superb index is also a great aid to the dip-in reader, which is great for quick reference.
Why a proper introduction such as this has taken so long to be published, I don't know. But better late than never. Absolutely essential to anyone who is considering a career in consultancy and definitely the most useful thing I've read on the industry. Highly recommended.
This is a great book, its insightful and easy to read. There is a mine of useful information here for the student wishing to succeed.
The four different views provide the framework needed to obtain a clear understanding, and to develop the skills required to succeed in Management Consultancy. The online resources are excellent, students and lecturers will find them practical and easy to use.
To sum up I'd say that this book is both current and authoritative. I enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it.
