There has been a lot of “buzz” about caffeine and its benefits in shampoos, Mancave are the latest to go down this "root" with this shampoo.
The shampoo itself smells nice, a fresh, “green” type of smell that reminds me of the great outdoors and , importantly for a mans shampoo is not girly sweet and floral.
I am happy to have my hair smell like this.
The packaging is shower friendly, with a flip top tube that can be opened and closed with wet hands or one handed easily.
The tube is also designed as a mans product and would not attract “banter” and mickey taking in the shower at the gym from your “mates”.
So why caffeine?
I had a little look around and found some information.
Basically sections of hair (samples in a dish, rather than on a head) were treated with caffeine; these sections showed that the hair follicles produced better and longer hair than the test sample that didn’t get any caffeine.
This improvement was more evident in the hair from females because of the lower levels of the male hormone testosterone – this is the stuff that causes problems with hair loss in males in the first place, but the male hair definitely benefited from this treatment.
Now to get the levels your hair needs from your “cuppa” you would need to drink around 55 cups a day, so a caffeine shampoo is going to be a lot more practical!

As for my results, well it is too early to tell at the moment, I haven’t developed the flowing locks of a Mills and Boon hero, but I have nice clean hair that is soft and shiny and it smells nice too. It has certainly done no harm and under the skin may well be working toward giving me the kind of hair Donald Trump can only dream of, who knows.

Since my teenage years, I have had a bit of an awkward relationship with my thin straw-like hair; frantically finding time to shampoo, condition and use a load of whatever wax/gel product I can get my hands onto in order to put my hair into place. This is compared to friends and colleagues who could just simply roll out of bed, shake their heads and wet their hair into place with some slight combing. Now that I am nearing my thirties and the whole meterosexual trend has made male grooming products greatly more available to the mass market, it has been necessary for me to experiment with various haircare products in order to find the right ones that best suit my needs.

I have concluded that the best products to use on my hair are either the argan oil or caffeine infused shampoos and conditioners, followed up by the non-greasy pastes or gels. Now that we are in the early twenty-first century, there is a vast array of these products from various retailers, both on the high street and in specialist stores online, with several supermarkets and chemists additionally pushing their own brands of haircare regime product lines.

I found the ManCave range on Amazon as a recommendation after buying a product from the Bed Head range; a brand that works very well for me since first entering a salon for my first ever 'grown up' hair-cut. Their product line, that is steadily growing, seems to appeal to the 'out and about' individual who works long hours or those who like to venture to a lot of outside environments; attempting to keep hair sturdily clean and in place. It also seems to be made for the in-between market of consumers wanting high line male grooming items at a relatively affordable price.

I love this shampoo, it smells lovely and I know it's for men but I love it all the same! It has none of the bad stuff and is organic so you know that you are getting all natural ingredients that you don't have to worry about putting on your hair or scalp. I have used this shampoo a few times now and I have to say that my hair likes it! My scalp is very sensitive and dandruff can be an on off problem but after using this shampoo I hardly have any. I think this may be to do with the natural ingredients and the lack of parabens etc. This shampoo supposedly will thicken and encourage hair growth but I can't really comment on that as I haven't been using it long but I am hoping it would work on women too. The bottle is a good size and you don't need a lot to work up a lather in your hair. I will be purchasing this product again even if it doesn't make my hair grow!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Expensive for a small 200ml tube of shampoo, but this goes a long way. I have found you require about half the amount you would normally use with cheaper branded shampoos. It has a very pleasant outdoorsy aroma, and one wash leaves your hair clean, shiny, manageable and smelling nice too. In fact the oils in the shampoo mean that I no longer need to use conditioner, so using half the amount and requiring no conditioner it works out a lot more economical. It is also good at dealing with dandruff, and since using it I have had no problems at all. Very good for a product not specifically labelled as anti dandruff. So, highly recommended, although the high price and small tube might put a lot of buyers off. Please don't be.
