This book is like no other I have read on the subject - and I have read many -it's not about one set diet and it doesn't rely on you buying products from the author or company. It's a simple set on instructions that will help you achieve your goals of weight loss, written by someone who has done it and understands the struggles us MEN go through
It is backed up by a FREE online community ( although it would be happy paying for if I had to ) - this community is full of men who have been there done it and got the oversized t shirt when they have failed before -but between the book and the website you can - and if you genuinely want to - will succeed
So if you think -I have read lots of diet books and I am still the same or worse, so how can this be different -just try it and see - if you have the determination -the MAN v FAT community has the support and know how to get you on the road to where you want to be

For the purpose of declaration I should mention that I get a brief mention in the book, however other than that I have no involvement.

This is the book.

Want to lose weight? This book contains the practical approaches to how you might do it. Not just promoting one diet, but suggesting different ways different men succeed.

Not only that - this book is for MEN. A bit like the Yorkie bars we may have eaten too much of.

The book is helpfully divided into three simple steps, understand why you got fat, learn how to lose weight and create a winning structure.

There is no shortage of really sensible advice in the book, and it is no surprise that those involved in the Man v Fat community are in the main losing significant quantities of weight.

I very badly broke my ankle last August (can't lie… was showing my son how to do a bunny hop on his new stunt scooter!!) and piled a lot of weight on while I was laid up recovering. That's the best excuse I can come up with anyway.

Now I'm back on two feet I've started getting back in shape and bought this book as a kickstart.

Thing is although I know how to simply lose weight, I find it very much helps to keep reading good motivational books and such... and what an inspiration this book and the accompanying free website is.

I've read a lot of books on fat loss but this one has to be the most down to earth, accessible and honest books I've read so far.

The three things I like most is that (1) it doesn't try and sell you anything (2) it's unbiased and talks about lots of different ways to lose weight and doesn't take the "one size fits all" type approach that most other weight loss books take, and (3) it's written a bit like what Top Gear would be if it was about weight loss instead of cars!

I bought this book for my husband but decided to read it myself first to see what the fuss is about and I have to say this is the single most useful guide to weight loss I have ever read. If you want to know how you gained weight in the first place, how to lose it sensibly or how to stay healthy at a weight you are happy with then this is the book for you. However if you want a speedy six-pack, celebrity endorsed fad diet or to spend a fortune on unnecessary kit then this is probably not for you! That is not an insult by the way, in fact it is a compliment of the highest order. Snake oil salesmen beware, Andrew Shanahan is coming for you...

This is a fantastic accumulation of ideas on food and fitness. It is written with a humerous tone - making it easy reading. The tale of the authors own story that runs through the manual will give you encouragement with out sounding pompous. Altogether a fantastically written realistic manual to achieve weight loss and a healthier lifestyle.

Although there are no shortage of books about weight loss, this book certainly fills a very empty gap in the market. Most diet books, plans and organisations are aimed squarely at women and the small amount of information that is aimed at men tends to be of the 'get ripped in eight weeks', 'five ways to get killer abs' variety, which frankly, for your average, middle-aged overweight male is unhelpful, unrealistic and is more likely to get us reaching for another bacon butty than signing up to a gym.
This book debunks the myths and encourages realistic goals and, along with the accompanying website, provides real support and encouragement whatever your size. The author is not aligned to any particular weight loss system and encourages the reader to chose or develop a method that will be best suited to their needs (almost all diets can claim equal success if they are rigidly applied, the point is to find one that fits with your lifestyle and use it to make long term sustainable changes in your behaviour that will ensure that you don't just pile on the fat again once you have reached your ideal weight).
