Product Description

"Stimulating reading and great information...Whenever there is anything I need to know about the subject, Motherhood and Mental Health will be the book I reach for first. I know of no other that is both so academically accomplished and so fascinating to read."--Journal of the American Medical Association"It is unusual to find a scholarly book, single authored, beautifully wirtten and readable, 612 pages long with 4000 references....I found the book full of hope and promise for improvement in a field known about throughout history but sorely ignored."--Miriam B. Rosenthal, MD, The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Format: Hardcover
This is an academic text designed as material for a course on managing law firms. It applies most of the standard academic business and organisational theories to law firms and analyses how they apply. It is adequate as a basic introduction for junior staff joining a law firm. However it adds little depth or insight for those already familiar with management theory at MBA level and with experience of professional services firms. In limiting itself to law firms it fails to notice the useful lessons being learned elsewhere in professional services and in the wider business community, many of which are equally applicable to the law firm. It therefore results in a rather narrow and backward-looking analysis. Those seeking insight into law firms would be better off reading David Maister's books. Those seeking to learn about management should read the best books in the individual subjects. Not essential to your library.
