An Essential Book for Any Woman
on 31 January 2012
I love this book. It focusses on the simplicity of make up, teaching people to apply make up well but also within time constraints, so you can do your face in a mad-dash before you leave the house in the morning. In 5 minutes you can look flawless and wonderful. In 20, you can look the same, but with nicer eyeshadow.
I think this book would suit teenagers, and women who are older too. It's a great reference. Teaching you the different qualities of foundations for example, and that you don't need a cupboard full of products to look your best. A small make up bag is pretty much all you need, the rest is all extra.
The book also featured before pictures, of the models without their make up on and some of them have shiny skin, wrinkles and blemishes. So this helps to tell young girls that everyone looks like this - we all have issues with our skin, and so make up can help. Rather than teaching that everyone is perfect, it shows that make up can help you disguise problems a little bit.
It is a book that shows make up basics. Don't expect elaborate eye make up looks, or time consuming false lashes. This book is all about every day natural looking beauty that can be done in little time, ie before work or school, or in a rush before a dinner date or whatever. It's full of great tips and advice though, which is valuable to any female who values her looks.
The book says that make up gives women confidence, I agree with that. It makes us feel better because we know that we look more radiant with our dark circles hidden and our skin glowing. I really love this book and highly recommend it for anybody - it's suitable for all ages, and covers different skin tones/colours etc. I will say, it doesn't offer a lot of make up looks for older women, but there are a few and there are plenty of tips as well.
